Benefits
Full description
Witted Mavericks was built on a promise. We wanted to disrupt software consulting by providing the fairest and most transparent salary model on the market for senior professionals. Looking at where we are now, it’s clear we succeeded.
We started in 2019, and today we have grown to approximately 60 consultants with offices in Helsinki and Oslo. In Oslo, you’ll find us at our modern premises in Hegdehaugsveien working with clients in demanding sectors such as defense, energy, medtech, automotive, industry, fintech and public sector.
Software Architect
We are now looking for a Software Architect to join our client within the Defence & Aerospace industry. Specifically the project is related to integrating a new C++ component into existing legacy code on another platform, while development of the existing functionality continues alongside it.
- Start: as soon as possible
- Duration: long-term, starting with a ramp-up phase since the work spans two codebases
- Allocation: 100%
- Location: mainly on-site, less than 30 minutes from Oslo city centre, with occasional travel to a second site. We're primarily looking for candidates living in the area.
- Language: fluency in both Norwegian and English
- Security clearance: level K (Confidential / Konfidensielt) required
More about the assignment:
A C++ component developed in C++17/20 will be integrated into existing legacy code on another platform, while the existing functionality continues to be developed. The new code will partly replace an existing algorithm. This calls for extensive refactoring without introducing new defects, and the architecture has to be adapted so that the core logic stays in a single, unified codebase with the platform-dependent modules separated out.
In this role, you will:
- Refactor and integrate the new C++17/20 codebase with the legacy C/C++ architecture
- Make sure the software architecture is solid and well designed, with a clear separation between core functionality and platform-dependent modules
- Communicate independently and closely with development teams in different locations
- Contribute to knowledge transfer and training within the team throughout the project
What we expect from you:
- Strong senior background as a Software/System Architect or lead System/Software Designer
- In-depth knowledge of modern C++ (especially C++20), plus a solid understanding of older C++ standards and C
- Strong expertise in modern software design, UML and design patterns, with the ability to apply patterns pragmatically where they bring real value
- Experience from complex, technology-intensive environments is a big advantage. No mathematical expertise needed, the focus is on high-level design.
- Courses or certifications in agile development, architecture or design patterns are a plus
Personal qualities:
- Eagerness to solve technical challenges and take ownership of your work. Pragmatic and confident, with good judgement of what's "good enough" without getting too rigid in design decisions.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills. A clear communicator who can pin down requirements and keep the team working well together.
- Keen on teaching others and building competence within the team.
Why Witted Mavericks?
