About Scrumconnect Consulting

Scrumconnect Consulting is a multi-award-winning UK public sector digital consultancy, positively influencing the lives of over forty million UK citizens. We bring deep expertise in agile delivery, digital transformation, and platform engineering across central government. With a team of over one hundred and twenty-five professionals — more than forty percent of whom are women — we are committed to building inclusive, diverse teams that reflect the communities we serve.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Frontend Developer to build accessible, high-quality digital services for UK government clients. You will work in a multidisciplinary agile team, using JavaScript, TypeScript and Node.js to build the user-facing layer of services and the APIs

behind it, in line with GDS standards and patterns.

Key Responsibilities

● Build and maintain accessible, responsive user interfaces and server-side applications

using JavaScript, TypeScript and Node.js.

● Develop with Express or Fastify, and with Nunjucks templates where the service uses

them.

● Build and consume API micro services.

● Work with SQL or NoSQL databases, and use Redis for caching and session handling.

● Write automated tests with Jest or Mocha, and practise test-driven development.

● Follow the GOV.UK Design System and GDS standards and patterns, and meet the

GDS Service Standard.

● Make sure services meet WCAG accessibility standards, and test with assistive

technology.

● Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, and deploy services on AWS and Azure.

● Review code, share good practice and support colleagues.

● Work with designers, user researchers, content designers and delivery teams to deliver

iteratively.

● Investigate and fix defects, and support services in live.

What We are Looking For

Essential:

● BPSS check required.

● Strong, hands-on experience of JavaScript, TypeScript and Node.js.

● Experience with Express or Fastify.

● Experience writing tests with Jest or Mocha.

● Experience with SQL or NoSQL databases.

● Experience with Redis and with building or using API microservices.

● Experience working with AWS and Azure, and with CI/CD pipelines.

● Good knowledge of WCAG accessibility and of GDS standards and patterns.

● Experience working in agile, multidisciplinary teams.

● Strong communication skills.

Desirable:

● Experience with Nunjucks.

● Experience delivering services through GDS phases and service assessments.

● Experience with the GOV.UK Frontend and Design System in live services.

● Docker and infrastructure as code (for example Terraform).

● Experience mentoring other developers.
