About the Role

As the founding product designer at an early-stage AI insurtech company, you will shape the experience of software that helps insurance teams manage complex claims workflows. You will work closely with product and engineering to make the platform easier to use as it grows to serve larger organizations.

What You'll Do

  • Own end-to-end design across claims workspaces, dashboards, and other customer-facing product experiences.
  • Research user needs through discovery calls, observation, and product usage data, then prioritize improvements based on what you learn.
  • Partner with product leadership and engineering to turn customer problems into clear workflows and implementation-ready designs.
  • Design interactions that help users understand AI actions, the information those actions rely on, and when human review is needed.
  • Guide the product from an early interface toward a polished, enterprise-ready experience, taking work from discovery through delivery.
  • Establish design principles and a design system, prototype with AI tools, and assess whether changes make tasks easier for users.

What We're Looking For

  • Five to eight years of product design experience, with consistent tenures at technology companies.
  • Early-stage startup experience, ideally as a founding designer or the first design hire in a function.
  • A UX-first, data-informed approach to simplifying complex workflows using research, behavioral analytics, and product instrumentation.
  • Experience prototyping with AI coding tools and designing complex, frequently used software for operational users.
  • Experience with AI-assisted workflows, human review experiences, or compliance-heavy fields such as insurance, claims, or healthcare is valuable.
  • Strong product design skills beyond visual design alone. This role does not require frontend engineering.
  • U.S. work authorization is required. Visa transfers may be considered, but new visa sponsorship is not available.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary: $170,000 to $220,000 annually. Visa transfers may be considered; new sponsorship is not available.

Location

On-site, five days a week in New York, New York, United States.
