We are looking for an experienced and self-driven Embedded Software Engineer – Thermal Management to join the Thermal Management Application Software team within Vehicle Technology.
The team is responsible for the design, development, verification, calibration, and continuous improvement of application software controlling the vehicle's complete thermal management system. The scope includes cab climate and coolant loop functionality across ICE, BEV, and Fuel Cell vehicles.
As a Specialist-level engineer, you will play a key technical role in developing future features, maintaining and improving existing systems, and driving system engineering activities across a complex, global organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, integrate, test, and verify embedded application software for vehicle thermal management systems.
- Take technical responsibility for the Coolant Loop Controller, including new feature development and maintenance of existing functionality.
- Translate system and customer requirements into detailed software requirements and technical solutions.
- Perform requirement breakdown, software design, implementation, testing, and verification.
- Develop and optimize control strategies for thermal management applications.
- Perform functional verification, system tuning, calibration, and validation.
- Plan, execute, and analyze results from rig, simulation, and vehicle testing.
- Work with MIL, SIL, and HIL environments for software development and verification.
- Support software integration and ensure quality and readiness before release.
- Collaborate closely with testing facilities, workshops, system teams, and other engineering functions.
- Integrate software deliveries from multiple teams and ensure technical consistency.
- Identify technical issues, perform root-cause analysis, and drive sustainable solutions.
- Contribute to technical roadmaps and early-phase development activities.
- Act as a technical specialist within a defined domain such as Electromobility, Powertrain Control, Control Theory, Mechatronics, Diagnostics, Vehicle Systems, or HMI.
- Lead complex technical tasks and projects while supporting and mentoring other engineers.
- Drive knowledge sharing, competence development, and continuous improvement across the organization.
- Build strong technical networks across global development sites and influence engineering activities beyond the immediate team.
- Work according to Agile and SAFe principles in a cross-functional, international environment.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Embedded Systems, or a related technical field.
- 8+ years of relevant professional experience in embedded software development.
- Strong experience in Embedded Software Applications.
- Experience with control strategies and software verification.
- Experience in functional verification, system testing, tuning, and calibration.
- Strong understanding of the complete embedded software development lifecycle.
- Experience with requirement analysis, software architecture/design, implementation, testing, and release readiness.
- Experience working in Agile/SAFe development environments.
- Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills in English.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with global, multicultural engineering teams.
