About the Role

MiniMed is on a mission to deliver the power of an Automated Insulin Delivery (AID) algorithm, as well as our Multiple Daily Injection (MDI) therapy, with its proven benefits to give people with Diabetes a choice in the treatment approach that is right for them. We are looking for a Software Engineering Manager (Mobile) to be part of this dynamic and high-impact team.

As a Software Engineering Manager for MiniMed Mobile Apps, you will have to create a culture of innovation and guide your team through design and development of mobile applications that help patients manage their diabetes. Our product suite spans from medical devices that a patient wears, to mobile apps, up to our back-end servers so this is a challenging task, and one that requires critical thinking to ensure the system performs well.

This position is onsite (hybrid, 3 days per week onsite) in Northridge, CA or San Diego, CA

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Experience in managing and developing complex mobile applications in Flutter (iOS or Android)
  • Lead and manage a team of employees that are well versed in mobile app development using languages such as Kotlin, Swift, Objective C and Flutter
  • Builds trust with leadership through consistent delivery and transparency, acting as a reliable resource for information and support
  • Self-motivated with great written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with System and software architects to interpret, analyze product needs and guide the team through implementation
  • Ability to coach developers on software development and provide constructive feedback to improve design and implementation
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills can identify root cause of complex problems and provide solutions
  • Provide feedback to cross functional teams such as Systems Engineering, Human factors, Clinical, and verification teams to drive quality products 
  • Work closely with quality and systems teams to ensure the product quality 
  • Work in agile/scrum environment
  • Strong technical contribution to Systems being build and guide the team through coding principles and enforce design reviews

Required Knowledge and Experience: 

Requires a Bachelor's degree and minimum of 5 years relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years prior relevant experience.

  Nice to Have 

  • Knowledge of mobile application security (Certificate pinning, TLS, SSO, etc.)
  • Good understanding and experience working with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)
  • Experience coordinating with remote teams
  • Experience working in a regulated industry 
  • Experience creating and maintaining documentation for software systems such as design documents, class diagrams, and sequence diagrams

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$109,000.00 - $185,000.00

For roles located in California, Seattle WA, Washington DC, Boston MA, and New York City, the salary range is $121,000.00- $205,000.00 USD.  

Actual compensation may vary based on factors including experience, education, certifications, skills, market conditions, internal equity, and geographic location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others). 

 

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Short Term Incentive (STI).
