Job DetailsJob Location: Highland - Highland, KS 66035Position Type: Full TimeEducation Level: 4 Year DegreeAt Highland Community College, we believe that higher education changes lives. Help us share our story. The Graphic Designer will promote and enhance the College brand with functions related to marketing at Highland Community College. Specifically, the Graphic Designer will be responsible for graphic art posted on signs, posters, websites, social media for College activities and projects as requested following our Brand Standards and Style Guidelines. Will also coordinate with the Athletic Department to produce game-day materials. This position requires an individual who is a self-starter and energetic. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following, other duties may be assigned. Create images related to College brand and activities. Could include, but not limited to, printed brochures, social media videos, business cards and others assigned by the Director of Marketing. Implement and manage production of requested projects using a standardized process. Work with printers and outside vendors as needed in the production of projects. Work with the athletic and academic departments to promote College events and activities. Maintain a positive and service-oriented attitude with students, employees, the community, and the public. Assist in Social Media output. Must be familiar with various social media tools, preferred sizing for graphics and videos. Provide excellent communication with the Director of Marketing and other departments on a regular basis. Ensure the HCC brand is being implemented throughout the College. Participate in meetings with the Director of Marketing and other departments on a regular basis. Assist with pickup and/or delivery of final printed products Maintain paper and material inventory/supplies including printer ink and staples, paper, postcards, supplies, etc. Ensure that Marketing does not run out of supplies by ordering or purchasing according to College accepted guidelines. All tasks will be monitored by the Director of Marketing through observation and ongoing conversations with the Employee. Location: This employee will be expected to report to the Marketing Department on the main campus at Highland Community College, 606 Main Street, Highland, Kansas, 66035, during business hours. May require some travel to our other campuses in Atchison, Kansas, and Baileyville, Kansas; and our printing vendors in outside communities. QualificationsQualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience College degree in graphic arts, media, communications or related field required. Must have excellent computer graphic design skills. High proficiency in Microsoft Office software is expected. Knowledge with Canva is required. Photography skills also preferred. Must be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite programs including, but not limited to: Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop. Editing or writing experience a plus. Language Skills Must have the ability to write press releases and articles and the ability to edit and re-word submitted articles. Ability to read and comprehend verbal and written instructions, correspondence and memos. Ability to effectively organize and present information to management and other groups. Mathematical Skills Ability to calculate amounts such as fees, discounts, interest, percentages and other costs associated with graphics production. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Applicants should take responsibility for accuracy. Must be able to create projects from abstract ideas. Willing to serve students, staff, faculty and the public to help them in a positive manner befitting any representative of Highland Community College. Other Occasional travel by vehicle required. Must have valid driver's license and clean driving record with no major infractions in the past five years. Should have a high degree of enthusiasm and energy. Must be a self-starter. Must be able to work with multiple interruptions and instructions from multiple sources.
