Salary: £55K - £60K

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent, part-time

We maintain a flexible working policy to allow for hybrid working when appropriate. Teams typically spend around 60% of their time in the office, although this may vary depending on project and business needs. At times you may need to attend the office up to 5 days per week. This role may also require occasional travel within the UK and internationally.

SeeByte, a global leader in maritime autonomy software, is looking to recruit a Bids & Project Manager to join our Growth team in Edinburgh.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced bids, commercial or project professional to be able to hit the ground running in a growing business and play a pivotal role in converting business opportunities into successful outcomes. You will lead the development and submission of bids, proposals and quotations, working across technical, commercial and leadership teams to create compelling submissions that secure new business and research opportunities.

As the primary interface with SeeByte's international sales representatives, you will help shape commercial opportunities across global markets while supporting some of the world's most advanced autonomous maritime programmes.

Main Purpose of the Role

The Bids & Project Manager is responsible for developing and submitting bids, proposals and quotations across the business, managing opportunities from initial engagement through to governance approval and submission. The role supports international sales, manages research and development proposal activity, maintains key customer relationships and ensures all bid content is compelling, consistent and aligned with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of bids, proposals and quotations from opportunity through to submission.
  • Coordinate technical, commercial and leadership contributions to ensure high-quality submissions.
  • Manage governance and approval processes, resolving technical and commercial questions efficiently.
  • Build strong working relationships with international sales representatives and support their business development activities.
  • Produce commercial quotations and manage negotiations through to agreement.
  • Consolidate sales forecasts and provide insight to support business planning.
  • Manage science and technology frameworks and identify new funding and partnership opportunities.
  • Develop compelling proposals for research and development programmes and innovation initiatives.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships and ensure successful delivery against customer expectations.

Essential:

  • Experience developing and coordinating successful bids, proposals or commercial submissions.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to work effectively across technical and commercial teams.
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical information into clear, engaging content.
  • Commercial awareness and experience supporting opportunity development, quotations or sales pipelines.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with customers, partners and colleagues.

Desirable:

  • Experience working within defence, maritime, robotics, software, engineering or technology sectors.
  • Experience developing proposals for research, innovation or science and technology programmes.
  • Experience managing sales forecasts, frameworks or partner networks.
  • Familiarity with AI tools and their application within business development, bidding or marketing activities.

  • Have a defence background and experience managing defence stakeholders.
  • Have a track record of winning complex bids in highly technical environments.
  • Can confidently engage with both technical specialists and commercial stakeholders.
