Android Developer

Overview

GDC IT Solutions is currently seeking an Android Developer to support a Federal Agency on a full-time, approximately three-month engagement beginning around October 15. The position is expected to be primarily remote, with occasional meetings at the Navy base in Mechanicsburg, PA, and requires a Secret clearance and Security+ CE certification.

Position Overview

As an Android Developer, you will be responsible for developing and supporting a secure Android application that communicates with a system of record through Amazon S3, authenticates using DoD E-ICAM, processes barcode scans, validates scanned data against information retrieved from the system of record, and provides alerts and results back to the system.

Responsibilities

• Develop and support an Android application in a secure environment, with a primary focus on Android application development, authentication, and communication with backend services.
• Implement application authentication using DoD E-ICAM and obtain and manage JSON Web Tokens (JWTs) for authorized communication with Amazon S3 buckets.
• Develop functionality to retrieve data from the system of record through established APIs and Amazon S3 buckets.
• Implement barcode scanning functionality and compare scanned information against data retrieved from the system of record.
• Develop application alerts to identify and notify users when unexpected or inconsistent data is scanned.
• Implement functionality to send application results and scan data back to Amazon S3 buckets.
• Collaborate with other development staff responsible for the data extraction and API components of the solution.
• Develop and maintain software in accordance with secure development practices and Agile methodologies.

Minimum Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience developing Android applications.
• Experience developing Android applications in a secure environment, preferably supporting federal or state government clients.
• Interim Secret or Secret security clearance.
• Security+ CE certification.
• Experience with application authentication and secure communication with backend services.
• Experience working with APIs and data exchanged in JSON or similar formats.
• Experience developing applications that interact with cloud-based storage or services, preferably Amazon S3.

Preferred Experience

• 10+ years of experience developing Android applications.

• Experience supporting federal government customers or Department of Defense environments.

• Experience with DoD E-ICAM, JSON Web Tokens (JWTs), or comparable identity and access management technologies.

• Experience leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support software development.

• Experience working in an Agile software development environment.

• Experience developing applications involving barcode scanning, data validation, or similar mobile workflows.
