Full description

As a member of the technical staff, the Solutions Architect is responsible for the development of cutting edge complete robotic solutions for logistics and e-commerce applications. This position requires empathy for the customer as the engineer will travel to client facilities to understand client application requirements and technical constraints. 

Essential Functions 

  • Responsible for the development of automation solutions that promote implementation of Plus One product offering in support of strategic growth applications within the logistics industry. 
  • Manage activities that take place during solution ideation, design, and communication phases. 
  • Work with the internal sales team to identify and assess the value and feasibility of potential applications including site travel as required. 
  • Participate in system-level design activities including layout, simulation development, and integration with customer systems. 
  • Communicate application functional requirements and proposed methods to both internal and external partner project execution teams. 
  • Support pre-sales activities including proof-of-concept scoping, demonstrations, and technical Q&A with prospective customers. 
  • Continually research current and emerging automation technologies and propose implementation into Plus One solutions when beneficial. 
  • Perform site surveys and gather technical information to create a fully defined Plus One product configuration for handoff to Operations for ordering purposes 
  • Contribute technical content to project proposals. 
  • Design/optimize automated demonstration cells/systems. 
  • Resolve technical problems as they arise and act as the technical bridge between sales and engineering 
  • Provide mechanical consultation in client-facing meetings (identify issues that will affect installation) 
  • Recommend accessories which are best suited for PlusOne products (i.e. be able to specify lighting or a compressor) 
  • Engineer site-specific fitment designs 
  • Work with Installers to communicate Plus One product details

from solid models (conveyor heights, widths, etc), answer specific questions, bring up concerns, warn and guide on things to look out for related to infeed/outfeed, reject paths, fencing, upstream/downstream signals/interfacing 

 

Required Education and Experience 

Bachelor's/Master's in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or 5+ years' relevant work experience. 

Preferred Education and Experience 

Experience with any of the following:  

  • Creation/invention of systems architecture for automated equipment 
  • Solidworks + PDM, AutoCAD, Visual Components, CAD importation and manipulation 
  • Logistics/supply chain automation industry 
  • Business development/customer relations 
  • Ability to read/review mechanical, electrical, and system-level schematics/diagrams 
  • System cost estimation and resource planning 
  • Equipment setup,

configuration, commissioning: Industrial robot, peripherals, safety devices 

  • Certifications such as: PE, PMP, Six Sigma,

Agile 

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work 

Full time, 40 hours/week between M-F, 9:00am-6:00pm

Travel 

Intermittent overnight travel, as needed to support sales activities. International travel will require a valid passport.
