  • Advance in-vehicle infotainment, safety, efficiency, and enjoyment

What You’ll Be Part Of

As an Android HMI Developer, you will develop and integrate AAOS system applications and services, including OTA, engineering mode, system logging, and diagnostics. You will work closely with platform, testing, and component teams to support end-to-end software delivery.

How You’ll Make An Impact

  • Develop, adapt, and maintain Android Automotive OS (AAOS) applications and services covering software upgrade / OTA, engineering mode, system logging, and diagnostics.
  • Implement user interfaces, business logic, background services, and state management based on product and customer requirements.
  • Integrate platform-provided upgrade, diagnostic, and logging interfaces to support operation triggering, progress and result presentation, status queries, and error handling.
  • Integrate with Android Framework, system services, CarService, Binder/AIDL, and project-specific interfaces. Adapt, extend, and maintain related Framework APIs or system services as required by the assigned modules.
  • Handle platform signing, system permissions, privileged permission configuration, and related SELinux access issues for system application integration.
  • Support AOSP/AAOS module builds, system application integration, software flashing, debugging, and functional verification.
  • Troubleshoot crashes, ANRs, memory leaks, permission failures, IPC communication issues, and interface failures in applications and related system services.
  • Participate in requirement analysis, interface reviews, unit testing, system integration, defect resolution, and software delivery. Collaborate with platform, testing, and component teams on end-to-end verification.

What Makes You A Strong Fit

  • 2–3 years of Android Automotive development experience, including experience with system applications, system services, or Android Framework development.
  • Good programming skills in Java and/or Kotlin, with a solid understanding of object-oriented design and common design patterns.
  • Good understanding of Android components, application lifecycle, services, Binder/AIDL, inter-process communication, and multithreading.
  • Experience with View/XML or Jetpack Compose, with the ability to implement interfaces and interactions for system utility applications.
  • Understanding of Android Framework and system service architecture, with the ability to read relevant source code and investigate application-to-system integration issues.
  • Knowledge of AAOS development environments and experience with module builds, system application integration, software flashing, and debugging.
  • Knowledge of CarService, VHAL, or automotive diagnostic concepts.
  • Basic understanding of platform signing, system permissions, privileged permissions, and SELinux.
  • Familiarity with Linux, Git, Android Studio, ADB, Logcat, dumpsys, and common Android debugging tools.
  • Good analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.

Bonus Points if You Have

  • Experience developing OTA / software upgrade, engineering mode, system logging, or diagnostic tools.
  • Experience extending Android Framework APIs, developing system services, or porting system applications.
  • Experience with C/C++, JNI, or native service integration.

Things To Know

  • This role focuses on AAOS system applications and services, with close integration across Android Framework, system services, and vehicle interfaces.
  • You will collaborate with platform, testing, and component teams to support system integration, verification, and software delivery.
