The Flight Systems Futures operating unit within Strategic Deterrent Systems is seeking highly motivated talent to join a team at the forefront of next-generation hypersonic capabilities. Our team focuses on the design, development, and demonstration of hypersonic re-entry vehicles and advanced payloads, with an emphasis on rapid development and prototyping aligned to specific customer missions. We operate in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment where innovative concepts are matured quickly into credible, testable solutions that address our nation’s most demanding strategic deterrence needs. This position will be located in Roy, Utah. This position is contingent upon funding.

What You’ll Get To Do:

Define and generate software functional requirements, interface control documents (ICDs), and verification test plans that enable the program’s software teams to develop high integrity code.

Work closely with subsystem leads (mechanical, electrical, and software) to capture cross domain interfaces and ensure consistency across the integrated system.

Develop verification matrices and automated test procedures to validate that software functions meet system level requirements and safety critical standards.

Lead requirements traceability using tools such as IBM?DOORS or CAMEO.

Participate in design, peer review, and configuration management activities in accordance with Northrop Grumman engineering processes (CMMI, DO178C, MISRAC).

Coordinate lab based demonstrations and hardware in the loop (HWIL) testing to verify software hardware integration.

Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in requirements engineering, interface management, and verification planning.

Basic Qualifications:

Typical Minimum Education or Experience

  • T04: 8 Years with Bachelors in Science; 6 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD"Define and generate software functional requirements, interface control documents (ICDs), and verification test plans that enable the program’s software teams to develop highintegrity code.

Active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years.

Ability to obtain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.

Work closely with subsystem leads (mechanical, electrical, and software) to capture cross domain interfaces and ensure consistency across the integrated system.

Develop verification matrices and automated test procedures to validate that software functions meet systemlevel requirements and safetycritical standards.

Lead requirements traceability using tools such as IBM?DOORS or CAMEO.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience as a software engineer (development of embedded firmware or application code).

Experience on integrated system software projects where subsystems are delivered by multiple vendors or internal teams.

Direct exposure to nuclear surety or nuclear safety programs and related standards.

Familiarity with model based systems engineering (MBSE) tools (SysML, IBM?Rhapsody, Cameo).

INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) or equivalent certification.

Primary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
