Role Summary:

We are seeking a proactive, tech-savvy Mid-Level Product Manager based in Miami, FL to join our onsite team. In this role, you won't just be managing feature requests; you will take products from zero to launch, turning abstract ideas into well-crafted, scalable software. Because Makai is an engineer-owned company, you'll need a genuine passion for technology and a solid understanding of how modern software is architected and built.

Employment Type: Part-Time (with potential to transition into Full-Time based on performance)

What You'll Do:

  • 0-to-1 Product Development: Drive new product initiatives from concept to production, defining product vision, MVP scopes, launch strategy, and execution plans.
  • Technical Product Discovery: Work directly with engineers, technical leads, and client stakeholders to translate complex business problems into actionable product requirements, technical specs, and detailed user stories.
  • Sprint & Backlog Management: Maintain a prioritized product backlog, write clear acceptance criteria, and partner closely with engineering teams in daily Agile workflows.
  • User-Centric Validation: Gather customer insights, analyze user feedback, and define key product success metrics to continuously iterate and improve the product post-launch.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the strategic connective tissue between clients, business stakeholders, designers, and software engineers in our Miami office.

Must-Haves:

  • Miami Local & Onsite: Based in (or local to) the Greater Miami area with the ability to work onsite in our client's office.
  • Product Ownership & Execution: 2–4 years of experience in product management with a proven track record of shipping web, mobile, or cloud software products (prior experience launching new features or products from scratch is a huge plus).
  • Technical Literacy: A strong grasp of modern software architecture (APIs, cloud services, frontend/backend separation, database concepts) with the ability to participate in deep technical discussions with engineers.
  • Problem-Solving & Initiative: Comfortable navigating ambiguity, highly resourceful, and naturally inclined to take full ownership of turning blank slates into functional software.
  • Agile Fluency: Hands-on experience writing PRDs, mapping user stories, managing Jira backlogs, and running product discovery in Agile environments.
  • Communication: Exceptional storytelling, writing, and stakeholder management skills.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent hands-on technical experience (e.g., former developer or technical analyst).
  • Familiarity with product design tools (e.g., Figma for wireframing) and analytics platforms (e.g., Amplitude).
