AI & Automation Engineer to support Lunar Engineering
COSMOCHUTE Vejalpur Taluka, Gujarat, India
Defense and Space Manufacturing · 2-10 employees
About the role
You will design and maintain a company-wide AI assistant to streamline engineering workflows and integrate various technical tools. Additionally, you will manage local infrastructure, data backups, and automate document approval processes.
What they look for
Requirements
The role requires hands-on experience with LLM application development, RAG systems, and platform engineering. Candidates should have strong proficiency in Python, DevOps practices, and experience managing secure, scalable internal developer platforms.
Benefits
Full description
About the role
You will be the first dedicated owner of our AI and automation stack, working directly with the founders and engineering leads. The job is to give every engineer a pre-configured AI assistant to support their work, our requirements and our released documents. You will support us in managing local servers, NAS data storage/backups, internal private networks, and to ensure reliable and secure operations.
Our tools span Microsoft Office & Dynamics 365, GitLab, and Waypoint, our in-house requirements and systems engineering tool. You connect them. The less time our engineers spend searching for the right requirement or document, the more time goes into getting EPOC to the Moon. This role has direct impact on helping humanity reach sustainable presence beyond earth.
What you will own
Four workstreams, with the central AI system at the center.
- Central AI system: design, build and run
a company-wide AI assistant that gives every engineer the right context from our requirements, documents and communications, securely and reliably.
- Tool integration: connect our
requirements tool, document system, code repositories and task management so information flows between them and into the AI system.
- Document approvals: automate review and
approval of engineering documents in Power Automate.
- Git workflow: implement and maintain a
consistent version control workflow across engineering teams.
Requirements
Experience building internal developer platformsWe expect hands-on engineering and depth in most, though not all, of the areas below.
AI and LLM engineering
- Building applications on LLM
APIs: prompt design, tool calling, structured outputs and context management.
- Designing agents that act
across several systems, using agent frameworks or protocols such as MCP.
- Evaluating output quality with
test sets and regression checks, and measuring accuracy and hallucination.
- Managing model cost, latency
and rate limits in production.
Data and retrieval
- Building retrieval (RAG)
systems: document parsing, chunking, embedding, search and ranking.
- Handling mixed engineering
content such as PDFs, Office files, tables and structured requirements data.
- Keeping indexed content fresh
and versioned so answers reflect the latest released information.
- SQL and relational databases;
experience with vector search.
Integration and automation
- Production flows on Microsoft
Power Automate, including multi-stage approvals.
- Designing, building and
consuming REST APIs, webhooks and event-driven integrations.
- Strong Python; working
JavaScript or TypeScript is a plus.
Platform and DevOps
- Deploying, monitoring and
securing services on a public cloud.
- Docker, Linux and CI/CD
pipelines.
- Git administration: branching
strategies, merge request reviews and protected branches, ideally on GitLab.
- Logging, monitoring and
alerting for services other people depend on.
Security and governance
- Identity and access control
(Entra ID, SSO, role-based permissions) so the AI only shows people what they are allowed to see.
- Audit trails and data
governance for sensitive or export-controlled information.
- Secure handling of credentials
and secrets.
Ways of working
- Owning systems end to end, from
design through to support.
- Writing clear documentation and
helping colleagues adopt new tools.
- Turning engineers' day-to-day
needs into tools they actually use.
- Comfort with ambiguity and pace
in a small startup.
Nice to have
- Experience with Claude or AWS
Bedrock.
- Background in aerospace, defense,
automotive, medical devices or another regulated engineering field.
- Familiarity with systems
engineering, requirements management or formal document control (for example ECSS).
- Experience building internal developer platforms
Benefits
You will design an AI system from a clean slate for a team building hardware for the Moon, with real ownership and direct access to the founders. Your work will shape how every engineer here works.
Benefits include:
- Competitive pay (Predefined pay
scales)
- Employee stock options
- Health Insurance for Employee,
spouse, children and parents
- Mental health support and therapy.
