The Head of Digital Engineering is responsible for end-to-end IT application development, engineering delivery, and production operations. They will drive technical strategy, SaaS adoption, and the implementation of robust DevOps practices to ensure business impact.

KEY TASKS & ACCOUNTABILITIES Strategic Leadership:
- Own the end-to-end IT application development and smooth production running.
- Drive identification and adoption of best practices, tools and frameworks for development & operations
- Ensure design and development are always focused on strategic short term and long-term business objectives.
- Create approaches and plans for the SaaS agenda for the digital insurance platform, with a strong focus on reuse, scalability, and optimized delivery
Technical Excellence:
- Drive speed to market with delivery of initiatives.
- Own the execution of the SaaS agenda
- Convert strategy to action by developing and maintaining a robust technical design and adherence to design during build.
- Drive business focus and urgency within the development teams.
- Ensure technical teams are staying current with emerging and newer technologies.
- Drive implementation of robust engineering and DevOps practices and tools for frequent multi-country deployments.
- Ensure Information security requirements are constantly considered are implemented during design and build.
- Ensure identification and robust implementation of best practices for production monitoring, observability and alerting. Including proactively identifying problem areas and addressing.
EXPERIENCE/ SKILLS
- Senior stakeholder engagement and influence
- Prior experience with leading a team of developers
- Passion for technology.
- In depth technical understanding of multiple technologies
o Restful APIs o Spring boot (Java) o JavaScript o ReactJS o Databases (Postgres) o Cloud – AWS, docker containers etc
- Ability to document and communicate technical design to developers
- Ability to review code
- Ability to review technical frameworks, libraries, tools and products. Including being able to do Poof of concepts before decision to adopt.
- DevOps and Agile delivery experience
- Technology qualifications and relevant certifications
