Senior Backend Engineer (Python & Systems Architecture

Your mission

• Design and implement scalable backend services and APIs in Python
• Own API architecture, service boundaries, and integration patterns
• Design efficient, maintainable and scalable database schemas
• Contribute to overall system architecture and technical direction
• Ensure security best practices across application and infrastructure layers
• Work closely with frontend developers and contribute where needed
• Improve CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, and operational reliability
• Participate in technical planning, and documentation
• Participate in code reviews, testing
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and performance bottlenecks

Your profile

The ideal candidate is a highly experienced Backend Engineer who is able to design, build and scale production-grade systems.  This role is heavily backend-focussed, but requires strong collaboration across architecture, infrastructure and frontend teams.• Senior-level Python development experience

• Strong API design experience (OpenAPI, REST)
• Deep understanding of database design and data modelling (MySQL)
• Strong system design and distributed systems knowledge
• Familiarity with modern frontend frameworks and TypeScript (Angular experience strongly preferred)
• Strong understanding of application and infrastructure security
• DevOps experience, including CI/CD and deployment workflows
• Experience with Agile/Scrum/Jira/Git
• Team player with a positive mindset and ability to work independently and take ownership of projects
• Good command of English
• Must be eligible to work in the EU and a resident in Budapest, Hungary

Nice to Have:• Experience with SQLAlchemy

• Experience with AWS services and infrastructure
• Infrastructure-as-code experience, especially CloudFormation
