We are currently looking for a Deputy Project Manager who will support the Project Manager in overseeing the successful execution of projects in the Oil and Gas project in Shuaiba Oil Pier in Kuwait. The role involves assisting in the strategic and tactical planning, coordination, direction, supervision, and control of technical, financial, and administrative contractual activities across both home office and site operations.
The Deputy Project Manager will coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams, procurement, project controls, construction management, and subcontractors to support the delivery of the project throughout all phases, from front-end engineering and detailed design through procurement, construction, handover, and project close-out.
Job Description
- Support the Project Manager in establishing project teams, coordinating multidisciplinary activities, and ensuring efficient project execution in line with contractual requirements and project objectives.
- Assist in developing and implementing project execution plans covering safety, staffing, budgeting, scheduling, and critical project milestones.
- Coordinate engineering deliverables, procurement of engineered equipment and bulk materials, construction subcontract administration, and project controls to ensure compliance with cost, schedule, quality, and safety requirements.
- Monitor project performance against approved budgets, schedules, and objectives, identifying deviations and supporting the implementation of corrective actions.
- Contribute to the preparation and monitoring of Total Installed Cost (TIC) estimates, cost trends, forecasts, and project progress reports.
- Promote and coordinate effective workshare execution across engineering disciplines and project services teams.
- Identify potential project risks, assess their impact, and support the development and implementation of appropriate mitigation measures.
- Coordinate with department managers to monitor team performance, address resource requirements, and ensure effective collaboration across project functions.
- Support and mentor Project Engineers and Construction Managers, contributing to their professional development and effective performance.
- Ensure compliance with established project review processes, quality control guidelines, safety standards, and applicable project procedures.
- Maintain positive working relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders, supporting effective communication at all organizational levels.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of project management systems, execution processes, and procedures.
- Support business development activities, including proposal preparation, presentations, opportunity assessments, and contract negotiations, as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Manager.
Qualifications
- BSc or MSc in Engineering (All disciplines)
- Minimum of 15 years of professional experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management or project leadership roles, preferably within major EPC / Oil & Gas projects.
- Previous experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams across engineering, procurement, project controls, and construction.
- Demonstrated leadership, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, planning, and organizational capabilities.
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities in a complex project environment.
- Results-oriented, decisive, and proactive approach to project execution.
- Substantial understanding of commercial, legal, and contractual matters.
- Knowledge of project management tools, systems, and methodologies.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
