EMC is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Field QA/QC Technician to support the quality of our commercial mechanical and plumbing installations. This position is responsible for helping ensure all work is installed in accordance with project plans, specifications, manufacturer requirements, applicable codes, and EMC quality standards. The Field QA/QC Technician will work closely with project managers, superintendents, foremen, and field personnel to identify and correct deficiencies before owner, engineer, or third-party inspections. This role is ideal for an individual who enjoys working in the field, has strong attention to detail, and is committed to delivering quality workmanship.

What You’ll Do:
Quality Assurance
Conduct routine field inspections of mechanical and plumbing installations. Verify installations comply with project drawings, specifications, contract documents, and applicable building codes. Ensure work follows EMC quality standards and best practices. Assist with developing and maintaining project-specific quality checklists. Identify potential quality concerns before they become project issues.
Quality Control
Document deficiencies using photographs and written reports. Track corrective actions through completion. Verify equipment, piping, supports, insulation, fixtures, valves, and accessories are installed correctly. Perform pre-final inspections prior to owner, engineer, or commissioning reviews. Assist project teams in reducing rework and warranty issues.
Documentation
Maintain accurate QA/QC reports and inspection logs. Assist with project closeout documentation. Verify startup documentation, test reports, warranties, and O&M manuals are complete. Organizer electronic project quality records.
Project Coordination
Coordinate with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, and subcontractors. Participate in project meetings when requested. Work with inspectors, commissioning agents, engineers, and general contractors during inspections. Communicate quality concerns professionally and provide practical solutions.
Continuous Improvement
Identify recurring installation issues and recommend improvements. Promote consistent installation practices across all EMC projects. Support company initiatives focused on quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.
QualificationsWhat You’ll Bring:
High school diploma or GED is required. Ability to work on active commercial construction sites. One to three years of commercial mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, or construction experience is preferred. Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, Autodesk Construction Cloud, and Microsoft Office is preferred. Fluent English verbal and written skills are required. Driving Requirements
Must have a valid Virginia driver’s license. Must have positive points on state driving record. Must be at least 21 years of age unless company approval is granted. Must not have had a DUI, DWI, or reckless driving conviction in the last five years. All driving records are run as part of our pre-employment process and reviewed at the discretion of the Safety Team.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to crawl, kneel, squat, and climb. Must be able to climb ladders and stairs. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, unassisted. Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
