Ultrasound QA Technician – Transducer Testing

Avante Health Solutions | Concord, NC 28027] | Full-Time | On-site

Detail-oriented and love getting it right? Be the final checkpoint before a probe goes back to patient care.

Every ultrasound probe that comes through our doors passes through QA twice: once when it arrives, and once before it leaves. As an Ultrasound QA Technician at Avante Health Solutions, you’ll confirm what’s wrong, verify that it was fixed right, and certify that each probe is safe and performing to spec. Clinicians count on every probe working perfectly, and you’ll be the one who makes sure it does.

What You’ll Do

  • Inspect incoming probes, documenting condition, damage, and accompanying paperwork and photos
  • Run inbound functional tests to confirm customer-reported defects and catch anything undocumented
  • Perform electrical safety testing, including leakage current and dielectric/isolation tests
  • Assess image quality using test phantoms and OEM diagnostic software
  • Check cables, connectors, and strain reliefs for damage and intermittent faults
  • Verify bending and articulation function on TEE and other steerable probes
  • Perform final release testing and sign off on QA documentation before shipment
  • Return any unit that doesn’t pass to repair, with clear documentation of why
  • Maintain test equipment calibration records and organized, audit-ready QA files
  • Partner with intake, quoting, and repair teams to confirm defects and retest borderline units
  • Flag recurring defect patterns for root-cause investigation
  • Help improve QA test protocols, checklists, and standard work
  • Follow cleaning, ESD, and safe-handling procedures for probes arriving from clinical use

What You Bring

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to getting it right every time
  • Accurate documentation and data entry habits
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Clear written and verbal communication
  • Comfort with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams) and willingness to learn ERP and quality systems
  • A team-player attitude and an eagerness to learn

Bonus Points For

  • 1–3 years of biomedical or electronics QA experience
  • A Biomedical Engineering Technology degree or certification
  • Experience with ultrasound transducers or electrical safety testing
  • Familiarity with medical device quality systems

Why Avante Health Solutions

  • Benefits: medical/dental/vision, employer paid supplemental coverages, 401(k), PTO, etc.
  • Training or growth: e.g., hands-on training in transducer testing, path to repair or senior QA roles.
  • A respectful, purposeful team that takes pride in quality work.
  • Work that directly supports healthcare providers and their patients.

The Work Environment

This role is based in a lab and warehouse setting. It requires fine finger dexterity for most of the shift, close-range vision (corrected is fine), reaching with the hands and arms for extended periods, and occasionally lifting up to 40 lbs. Probes arrive from clinical use, so you’ll follow cleaning and safe-handling protocols. An insurable driving record is required.
