Overview

Compensation: $70,000 - $90,000 based on experience and credentials

Location Type: Hybrid opportunity with 2-3 days a week of onsite availability

Position Type: Full Time

Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Underwrite Commercial and Small Business loan requests greater than $250,000.00 with low to moderate complexity. Prepare a detailed Credit Action Memorandum (CAM) recommendation to be presented to the Decision Maker and/or the Credit Committee. Review and analyze file information such as: CPA Quality Financials, Personal and Corporate Tax Returns, Credit Reports, Appraisals and other research as well as other Market Data. Make recommendations for loan decisions. Additionally, this position may assist with loan requests under $250,000.00.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates with Loan Officer on any concerns regarding borrower performance. Additionally, may communicate with borrower/member as required.
  • Reviews applications for member commercial/business loan requests greater than $250,000 with low to moderate complexity. This includes commercial real estate, lines of credit, and term loans. This position may also review applications for member business loans less than $250,000.00.
  • Prepare Financial Spreads and generate financial ratios to evaluate a borrower’s financial status to determine the borrower’s cash flow and capacity to service debt, summarizing borrower’s financial statements and its historical performance.
  • Analyzes credit information to assess member’s general credit worthiness and detail identifiable risks associated with the credit quality of loans/collateral. Additionally, the analyst will interpret financial data and make loan recommendations to lenders and loan committee.
  • Reviews balance sheets and profit and loss statements. Analyzes appraisals of real estate offered as collateral.
  • Completes an assessment of liquidity, quality of management, market position, and overall business climate to estimate future profitability of business.
  • For SBA lending, prepares loan information and refers such to external SBA loan processor. Follows up with processor for underwriting decision and presents to Suncoast management for final decisioning.
  • Underwrites loans and makes recommendations for loan decisions on non-SBA loans. Completes loan package presentations for review by management. Works with document specialist to ensure all applicable loan documents are prepared for closing.
  • Assures that the loan package complies with credit, underwriting standards and lending/credit policies.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with the loan officer and member to provide information on the transaction status, clarify any discrepancies with the member account or instructions; resolve problems, concerns/doubts.
  • Works with Business Services Specialist to cultivate member relationships, as well as business deposits.
  • Assists members, service centers, and back-office staff with questions relating to member business loans and deposits. Provides phone support for Business Services department.
  • Analysts may also train new employees on underwriting, processes and procedures.
  • Monitor and manage assigned commercial loans. This responsibility could include tracking covenants, financial statement monitoring, and insurance/tax monitoring.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of current trends, laws, and issues affecting the area of expertise
  • Attend educational events to increase professional knowledge
  • Complete annual compliance and info security training to understand employees' role in maintaining effective compliance and security programs

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field. (A comparable combination of work experience and training may be substituted for education requirements.)
  • Generally, 5 or more years progressively responsible experience in commercial or business lending with a financial institution underwriting traditional credits.
  • Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks by effectively managing competing and changing priorities to meet deadlines
  • Accurate, detail-oriented, and organized with task management
  • Ability to analyze and resolve difficult and often complex problems or situations
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to interact effectively with members, staff, vendors, and government regulators
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of credit union products, services, policies, and procedures
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of regulatory compliance
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of credit union computer systems and software applications required to perform job duties
