Position Summary and Role Impact:
The Director Technology Project Manager is responsible for leading the successful delivery of large-scale, complex technology initiatives within a Financial Services environment. This role will be responsible for driving strategic projects across the enterprise, managing cross-functional teams, facilitating Agile delivery practices, and ensuring successful execution of business-critical programs. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in project and program management, Agile/Scrum methodologies, Jira, Release Train Engineering (RTE), and stakeholder management at the executive level.
Essential Functions:
Key Responsibilities
Program & Project Leadership
- Lead multiple complex, high-visibility technology programs and projects from initiation through implementation and stabilization.
- Develop and manage integrated project plans, budgets, schedules, dependencies, risks, assumptions, and resource allocations.
- Drive delivery of strategic initiatives with significant organizational impact, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Manage competing priorities across multiple business units while maintaining focus on quality, scope, schedule, and budget.
Agile & Release Train Management
- Serve as a Release Train Engineer (RTE) or Agile Program Lead for large-scale Agile initiatives.
- Facilitate Program Increment (PI) Planning and execution, dependency management, and continuous improvement activities.
- Monitor and report Agile delivery metrics and drive corrective actions where necessary.
Stakeholder & Executive Management
- Partner with senior business and technology leaders to define program objectives, success criteria, and delivery strategies.
- Provide executive-level communications, status reporting, and portfolio updates.
- Facilitate decision-making, issue resolution, and risk mitigation across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Build strong relationships across business, operations, compliance, risk, infrastructure, development, and vendor organizations.
Governance & Risk Management
- Establish and maintain project governance frameworks and reporting structures.
- Identify, assess, and proactively manage project risks, issues, dependencies, and constraints.
- Ensure adherence to enterprise project management standards, SDLC requirements, audit controls, and regulatory obligations.
- Support internal and external audits and compliance initiatives as required.
Technology Delivery
- Coordinate technology implementations involving application development, infrastructure, cloud platforms, cybersecurity, data management, and vendor solutions.
- Engage cross-functional teams consisting of architects, developers, engineers, quality assurance resources, and third-party vendors.
- Drive change management, implementation readiness, and adoption activities.
Requirements for Success:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Finance or related field.
- 7-8 years of Project and Program Management experience leading large-scale technology initiatives.
- 2-3 years of experience in Financial Services, Banking, Credit Card Services, FinTech, or similar industries.
- Demonstrated success delivering complex enterprise technology programs
- Extensive experience with:• Agile, Scrum, and SAFe methodologies
- Release Train Engineer (RTE) responsibilities
- Jira, Confluence, and Agile reporting tools
- Portfolio and Program Management
- Risk and Issue Management
- Vendor and Third-Party Management
- Executive Stakeholder Communications
Preferred Qualifications
- PMP (Project Management Professional) certification.
- SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE), Scrum Master (CSM or PSM), Agile certifications
- Experience leading digital transformation, cloud migration, infrastructure modernization, cybersecurity, data, or enterprise application initiatives.
- Experience operating within solution delivery and enterprise portfolio management environments.
