Job Title: Workday Financial Analyst - Temporary

Department: Business and Finance

Reports to: AVP/Controller for Business and Finance

FLSA Status: Exempt

Job Summary

The Workday Financial Analyst serves in a critical, specialized role supporting the implementation of Workday Financials at Fort Valley State University (FVSU). This position combines financial expertise with Workday ERP system knowledge to support, enhance, and optimize the University's financial operations.

The Workday Financial Analyst serves as a key liaison between the FVSU finance team and the University System of Georgia (USG) implementation team to support a successful ERP deployment and effective long-term use of Workday Financials.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the USG implementation team to support the configuration of Workday Financials modules, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Procurement, Projects, Revenue Management, Asset Management, Cash Management, and Close and Consolidation.
  • Perform audits, reconciliations, and data-quality reviews to support the accuracy and completeness of financial data throughout implementation.
  • Support alignment of financial data and processes with institutional policies, procedures, and applicable federal and state regulatory requirements.
  • Support the development of financial reporting structures and dashboards and leverage accurate financial data to enhance analytics and inform decision-making.
  • Partner with Finance, Accounting, Information Technology, and other business stakeholders to evaluate current processes, identify inefficiencies, and recommend opportunities for automation and workflow improvement.
  • Serve as a liaison among Finance, Information Technology, business units, and the USG implementation team to align Workday functionality with operational needs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and document requirements for system enhancements and integrations.
  • Provide end-user support and assist with troubleshooting and resolution of Workday Financials system issues.
  • Develop and deliver training and guidance to users to support system adoption and effective use of Workday Financials.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of core financial processes, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, procurement, projects, and cash management.
  • Proficiency with Workday reporting tools, including BIRT, dashboards, and calculated fields.
  • Experience with data analysis, regulatory compliance, and system security.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear information for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across Finance, Accounting, Information Technology, and other functional areas.
  • Ability to evaluate business processes and identify opportunities for workflow optimization and automation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Three to five or more years of experience supporting Workday Financials or similar ERP systems.
  • Minimum of two years of experience leading and managing Workday implementation efforts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting a Workday Financials implementation within higher education, the public sector, or another complex, decentralized organization.
  • Experience working within a University System of Georgia institution or comparable multi-entity environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with financial data conversion, validation, reconciliation, or ERP implementation testing.
  • Experience developing financial reports, dashboards, calculated fields, or other decision-support tools in Workday.
  • Experience supporting user acceptance testing, system readiness activities, or post-implementation stabilization.
  • Experience documenting business processes, functional requirements, system configurations, or standard operating procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional problem-solving efforts involving Finance, Accounting, Information Technology, and operational stakeholders.
  • Workday certification, formal Workday training, or relevant professional certification in finance, accounting, information systems, or project management.

Work Schedule

This is a temporary, on-site position. The normal work schedule is based on the operational needs of the University. Occasional work outside of normal business hours may be required during critical phases of the Workday implementation, including system testing, go-live, and post-implementation stabilization.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Work is primarily performed in a professional office environment with extensive use of computers and other standard office technology.
  • The position requires prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer.
  • The position may require occasional movement between offices, meeting spaces, and other locations on campus.
  • The position requires the ability to communicate and exchange information effectively with employees, University stakeholders, and external partners.
