Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Missile Defense Integration offers an excellent opportunity for a Sr Principal Computer Systems Analyst (26-267) to join our team of skilled and diverse professionals. Based in Colorado Springs, CO, or Huntsville, AL, this role is essential to supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at the strategic, regional, and operational levels.

This position does not provide relocation assistance and requires on-site work with no remote options.

Position Overview:

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a key component of the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to plan ballistic missile defense operations systematically, collectively monitor the battle, and dynamically control networked sensors and weapon systems to achieve global and regional mission goals. C2BMC supports layered missile defense capabilities that enable an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It serves as a force multiplier by networking, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations, both globally and regionally, to improve performance. C2BMC is essential for all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the current and future capabilities of missile defense systems.

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is an essential part of the Missile Defense System. It provides a critical operational platform that enables the U.S. president, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and tactical levels to systematically plan missile defense operations, monitor battle progress, and actively control networked sensors and weapon systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC offers a layered missile defense capability, providing an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It acts as a force multiplier by connecting, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations, both locally and worldwide, to improve overall performance. Additionally, C2BMC is a key component of all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the missile defense system's current and future capabilities. The successful candidate will work with the C2BMC Regional Applications Analysis team under the C2BMC Chief Analyst.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform analysis, root-cause troubleshooting, scenario support, and behavior assessments of C2BMC software across development, ground tests, and operations
  • Use automated tools and apply manual techniques to analyze software capabilities and behaviors in an integrated environment
  • Interface with cross-functional teams and Subject Matter Experts to define analytical approaches, set up scenarios, support anomaly resolution, and deliver actionable insights to customers and stakeholders
  • Work is performed on-site with no remote work opportunities

Basic Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university, along with 8 years of experience; or a Master’s degree in a related field with 6 years of relevant work experience; or 12 years of relevant work experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree
  • Applicants must have a current, active in-scope Government-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start
  • Willingness to travel 10% of the time for business needs
  • Proven experience producing analytical reports on complex systems and algorithms (performance, behavior, functionality)
  • Ability to use MATLAB or a comparable language (e.g., Python) for prototyping, data visualization, scripting, data manipulation, and parsing
  • Ability to use spreadsheets, databases, and/or Linux command-line tools for hands-on data analysis and verification
  • Experience with statistical methods, time-series analysis, and data visualization to uncover trends, patterns, and anomalies
  • Excellent analytical abilities and the ability to clearly present complex technical concepts to engineers, stakeholders, and customers
  • Knowledge of systems and software engineering processes, principles, and lifecycles
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities, capable of explaining complex technical ideas clearly
  • Self-motivated and collaborative, excelling in fast-paced settings by efficiently shifting between high-priority tasks

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in missile defense battle management, IR/RF sensor tracking, intercept engagements, space domain awareness, or command-and-control systems
  • Proficiency in data analysis, visualization, and statistical methods for interpreting system trends, behaviors, and test results
  • Strong math/physics background: probability, statistics, linear algebra, spatial and timing reference frames
  • Experience working in Agile Scrum environments using JIRA and Confluence
  • Experience with automated analysis and assessment of software applications/systems
  • Ability to create analytical tools and parsers using MATLAB, Bash, Java, Python (or similar)
  • Experience with object-oriented programming, SQL queries, regular expressions, reading Java code, and using Git/GitLab CI/CD pipelines
  • Ability to interpret and comprehend Java, C, or C++ code

Colorado Springs : $117,500 - $176,300

Huntsville : $123,400 - $185,000

Primary Level Salary Range: $117,500.00 - $185,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
