Employment Type: Full-Time (Monday - Friday 37.5hrs)

At Labman Automation, we design and build bespoke robotic systems that enable science through technology. Our work supports global customers across industries from pharmaceuticals to materials science, developing automation that makes the world’s most advanced research faster, safer, and more sustainable. As a Support Engineer – Bioprocess Automation, you’ll provide hands-on technical support to our Bioprocess customers, helping to keep complex automation systems operating reliably and effectively.

This is a varied engineering role combining planned maintenance, breakdown support, calibration, upgrades and customer training. You’ll work closely with customers and our internal engineering and quality teams, with opportunities to travel to customer sites worldwide.

What You’ll Do:

  • Install, commission, maintain and repair Labman laboratory automation systems following established procedures and engineering guidance.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance, upgrades and structured fault-finding across mechanical, electrical and software issues.
  • Provide hands-on and remote technical support, diagnosing issues and escalating where appropriate rather than making unapproved changes.
  • Test system performance and ensure equipment continues to meet Labman quality and safety standards.
  • Identify and suggest potential improvements or longer-term solutions, working with the wider engineering team before changes are implemented.
  • Build strong customer relationships and provide operator and basic maintenance training.
  • Complete clear and accurate service reports, maintenance records and technical documentation.
  • Work closely with our engineering teams and travel regularly to customer sites across the UK and internationally, as well as Labman HQ and Liverpool.

What You’ll Need

  • Good problem-solving and fault-finding ability, with a methodical approach to diagnosing issues before taking action.
  • A hands-on approach and confidence using engineering hand tools.
  • Strong communication skills and a professional, customer-focused approach.
  • Ability to work independently whilst following agreed processes and knowing when to escalate an issue.
  • Confidence to suggest improvements and share observations with the engineering team.
  • Good attention to detail and accurate documentation skills.
  • Willingness to regularly travel within the UK and internationally.

Desirable:

  • Experience within laboratory, pharmaceutical manufacturing, automation or another relevant technical environment.
  • Previous experience in a service, support or customer-facing engineering role.
  • Experience using CRM or service management systems.
  • Familiarity with SAP, Salesforce or other service desk software.

Company benefits:
