Full description

The center of the job:

Offline-first synchronization. Everything else is detail.

A device records work in the field with no connection, holds it locally for hours or days, and eventually uploads it — sometimes partially, sometimes after the same record has been changed on the server. Getting that right, and knowing when you have not, is what this role is.

If that sentence made you think about conflict resolution rather than about UI, keep reading.

Requirements

What you would do:

  • Take ownership of seven Android applications and keep them dependable in the field.
  • Improve the sync layer: queued uploads, retries, partial failures, conflict handling that does not quietly discard data.
  • Bring the estate under control — shared code where it earns its place, consistent builds, releases that are routine.
  • Tell us honestly which apps are worth consolidating or rebuilding, and in which order.
  • Work with the backend developers on the API contracts.

Must have:

  • Strong Java for Android, several years, in production. Kotlin knowledge is welcome, but you will be reading and writing Java from day one.
  • Real offline-first experience. Room, WorkManager, background upload queues, and honest conflict handling. Not "the app caches some data" — genuine deferred sync with the failure cases handled.
  • Comfort with hand-written networking. These apps use OkHttp and json directly; only one of the seven uses Retrofit.
  • Location and mapping in earnest. You should know what a GPS trace actually looks like when a phone spends eight hours in a truck cab — drift, gaps, battery, accuracy under a canopy.
  • Gradle across versions. These projects span Gradle 8.0 to 8.11.1, Java 8 to 17, minSdk 17 to 29. Getting an old project building on a current machine should be a task, not a crisis.
  • Play Console and release discipline — signing, keystores, target-API deadlines across several apps at once.

Nice to have:

  • Kotlin, and a considered view on when migrating is worth it
  • Flutter
  • NFC — tags used to identify physical objects in the field
  • Firebase: Realtime Database, Cloud Messaging, Crashlytics
  • Telephony and automated calling (Twilio or similar)
  • Mapping and routing, OpenStreetMap-based stacks
  • Experience in a regulated or evidence-critical domain, where losing a record has consequences beyond a bad review

Benefits

  • You will be a part of a highly experienced multinational team.
  • Very competitive salary.
  • 20 days of paid vacations per year plus 10 days of official holidays.
  • Home office (20% of your working time).
  • Participation in the employee loyalty program.
  • The company offers financial support for employees willing to enroll in English courses.
  • Financial support for a gym membership.
  • Clear and transparent seniority/salary structure.
  • Employees are evaluated on a regular basis annually , which in return ensures a promotion opportunity after every evaluation round.
