Overview

As a Senior Project Manager, you will take ownership and accountability for some of PM Group’s most complex and high-profile projects. While this role sits within our UK. operations, many of our clients are multinational organisations, providing the opportunity to work across international project teams and take accountability for project delivery in a global environment.

Based from any of our UK offices (Birmingham, Manchester or Edinburgh)

This is a key and highly visible opportunity within PM Group, playing an important role in the continued success and growth of our UK business. You will provide leadership across the full project lifecycle, working closely with clients, project teams, contractors and internal stakeholders to deliver safe, high-quality and commercially successful projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the proposal effort, defining PM Group’s scope, project execution strategy, programme and commercial approach, including EPCM delivery models.
  • Lead the safe and effective delivery of projects across the full lifecycle, ensuring alignment with PM Group’s Service Delivery Platforms, Quality Management System and project governance requirements.
  • Develop, manage and agree project schedules, budgets and PM Group fee budgets, ensuring key milestones, hours and commercial targets are achieved.
  • Identify project resource requirements and coordinate with resource owners to ensure appropriate multidisciplinary teams are mobilised at the right time.
  • Lead and coordinate design activities across all disciplines, including interfaces with sub-consultants, contractors, suppliers and site teams.
  • Establish and manage Client, sub-consultant and construction contracts, ensuring appropriate commercial and contractual arrangements are in place.
  • Establish effective change control and risk management processes, identifying, assessing and mitigating project and contractual risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant statutory, regulatory, Client and PM Group requirements, including Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality standards.
  • Lead, motivate and direct multidisciplinary project teams, including sub-consultants and external partners, providing clear direction and fostering a high-performance project culture.
  • Provide clear and timely project reporting to PM Group Management and Clients, covering progress, cost, schedule, risks, trends, commercial performance and areas of concern.
  • Lead project close-out activities, including handover, certification, lessons learned, project metrics and final documentation, while providing mentoring and support to the wider Project Management Team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline, such as Engineering, Construction or Science, is preferred.
  • A professional qualification or membership of a recognised Project Management body, such as APM or PMI, is highly desirable
  • Proven experience delivering complex, multidisciplinary EPCM projects within the Pharmaceutical or Biopharmaceutical sector.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of EPCM project delivery incorporating validation requirements.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and business acumen, with proven experience managing project budgets, man-hours, fees and commercial targets.
  • Strong understanding of industry-standard Project Controls, tools and techniques, including Earned Value Analysis.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver projects to agreed quality, schedule and budget requirements.
  • Self-driven and results-oriented, with a proactive approach and a strong focus on quality, client service and successful project delivery.
  • A forward-thinking project leader who can anticipate challenges, identify solutions and drive effective resolution.
  • Strong leadership, communication and influencing skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with clients, project teams, contractors and senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to critically assess own performance and that of others, promote continuous improvement and act as a Project Sponsor when required.
