Project Manager – Pension / Benefits Industry

BizTech Fusion is hiring for one of its clients for an experienced Project Manager with strong experience in the pension/benefits industry and state agency environments.

Location: Austin, Texas

Work Arrangement: Hybrid or Fully Remote

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM CT

Job Type: Contract

Duration: 6 Months

Hours: 40 hours/week

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Project Manager / Project Lead to support a large-scale pension and benefits system implementation. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with public pension/retirement systems, state agencies, Employer/Agency Outreach, testing, training, and organizational readiness.

The candidate will serve as a key liaison between internal teams, external employers/agencies, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure successful implementation and Go-Live readiness.

Minimum Requirements

  • 20+ years of Project Management experience
  • 10+ years of Pension/Benefits industry experience
  • Experience working with pension/benefits systems within a state agency is mandatory
  • 2+ years of Employer/Agency Outreach experience
  • Experience managing outreach activities involving 50+ employers/agencies
  • Experience developing and executing Employer Outreach strategies and plans
  • Experience coordinating employer testing and training activities
  • Experience leading testing and training projects
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or related field

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage comprehensive project plans for Agency/Employer Outreach, Business Procedures, and Training activities.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and solution vendors throughout system implementation.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with external employers/agencies and vendors.
  • Develop and execute communication strategies to prepare employers for technical, reporting, and process changes.
  • Establish and manage Employer Advisory Groups and gather stakeholder feedback.
  • Oversee employer testing, interface testing, certification, and issue resolution.
  • Manage development and delivery of training materials and sessions.
  • Track project milestones, risks, issues, deliverables, and employer readiness.
  • Prepare regular project status reports and presentations for sponsors and steering committees.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to stakeholder and organizational readiness.
  • Coordinate multiple stakeholders and drive successful Go-Live and implementation readiness.
