This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Full Stack JAVA Developer based in the United States.
This is a senior full-stack engineering role focused on modernizing mission-critical legacy applications through scalable Java technologies. You will design and develop microservices, REST APIs, data ingestion pipelines, and reporting solutions that support complex financial data workflows. The role combines application development with data processing, reporting modernization, automated workflows, and comprehensive quality assurance. You will work with technologies including Java, SQL, JasperReports, Javalin, REST, JSON, and multiple file-based ingestion formats. Your work will help deliver reliable, traceable, and audit-ready solutions while improving legacy systems and reporting processes. The position involves close collaboration with business users, technical teams, vendors, stakeholders, and interfacing applications. This fully remote opportunity is ideal for an experienced Java engineer who enjoys solving complex integration, data, reporting, and modernization challenges.

Accountabilities
• Design and develop Java-based REST APIs and stateless microservices using lightweight frameworks such as Javalin.
• Build JSON models, validation logic, transformation workflows, and data ingestion pipelines supporting SFTP and batch processing.
• Integrate applications with Datacom/CICS systems through JDBC connections and REST gateways.
• Implement structured error handling, logging, traceability, and other practices that support reliable and maintainable applications.
• Develop and maintain unit and integration tests while troubleshooting application issues across development, testing, and production environments.
• Build and maintain JasperReports templates, sub-reports, and merged reporting outputs.
• Modernize PACER reporting, reconciliation logic, and recurring monthly reporting workflows.
• Write advanced SQL queries for data retrieval, joins, aggregations, reconciliation checks, and cross-system validation.
• Automate recurring reporting processes and generate outputs in formats such as CSV, XML, and PDF.
• Execute unit, integration, API, batch, and end-to-end testing across application, ingestion, and reporting workflows.
• Validate ingestion formats and processing flows involving Connect:Direct, SFTP, CSV, fixed-width, XML, and JSON data.
• Test REST APIs for schema accuracy, error handling, functionality, and performance.
• Coordinate user acceptance testing, lead defect triage, and maintain testing documentation and traceability.
• Investigate and resolve complex application, data, integration, and reporting issues.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, business users, legacy development teams, vendors, SMEs, and interfacing applications to deliver effective solutions.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 10+ years of professional experience in Java development, microservices, REST API development, or closely related software engineering disciplines.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java-based microservices, REST APIs, and enterprise application development.
• Proficiency in JSON modeling, data validation, transformation logic, and API integration.
• Strong SQL skills, including joins, aggregations, reconciliation queries, and cross-system data validation.
• Experience developing reports using JasperReports or comparable enterprise reporting frameworks.
• Solid understanding of batch processing, SFTP ingestion, and file-based data workflows.
• Experience with unit, integration, API, end-to-end, and data-pipeline testing.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex application, data, integration, and reporting issues across multiple environments.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working across technical and business teams.
• Experience with Javalin or another lightweight Java REST framework is preferred.
• Familiarity with PACER reporting, reconciliation processes, or finance-related data flows is a plus.
• Experience integrating with Datacom/CICS systems through JDBC or REST gateways is preferred.
• Exposure to Connect:Direct, CSV, fixed-width, XML, or JSON ingestion pipelines is beneficial.
• Experience with scheduling and orchestration tools such as Autosys, Control-M, Jenkins, or similar platforms is a plus.
• Knowledge of logging, traceability, audit frameworks, or compliance-driven workflows is advantageous.
• Experience supporting UAT or working closely with accounting and reporting SMEs is preferred.
• U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent resident status is required.

• Salary range: $136,000–$184,000, with final compensation based on experience, geographic location, and applicable contractual requirements.
