Overall responsibilities

Serves as the senior technical authority and operational coordinator within the Data Analytics & Reporting unit. The Lead Data Analyst drives the execution of complex analytics projects, oversees dashboard architecture, establishes technical standards (SQL, DAX, Python/R), and mentors junior team members. While not holding formal people-management responsibilities, this position guides daily workflows and ensures high data quality and analytical rigor across all organizational reporting.

Specific responsibilities

Technical Guidance & Delivery Coordination

  • Serve as the primary technical reference point for the data analyst team, performing code reviews (SQL/DAX), setting data modeling standards, and mentoring team members.
  • Manage the technical execution of analytics projects assigned by the Data Analytics & Reporting Manager, ensuring delivery timelines and quality standards are met.
  • Translate complex business requirements from operational units into detailed technical specifications for dashboards and data structures.

Dashboard Architecture & Advanced Analytics

  • Architect, build, and maintain scalable, high-performance dashboards and data visualizations in Power BI.
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis to identify hidden trends, supply chain bottlenecks, and operational anomalies.
  • Synthesize technical findings into narrative-driven visual reports for cross-functional stakeholders and senior leadership.

Data Architecture Support & Quality Governance

  • Partner with IT and Data Engineering to design optimal data warehouse schemas, star schemas, and data pipelines that support analytics.
  • Enforce data validation controls, documentation practices, and quality assurance (QA) protocols across all public and client-facing dashboards.
  • Serve as a key gatekeeper for data governance, ensuring consistent data definitions and table usage across departments.

Performance Measurement & Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Support the compilation, verification, and presentation of monthly, quarterly, and annual performance metrics for internal management and external donors (e.g., The Global Fund).
  • Collaborate with OpEx and business units to align operational processes with underlying data structures.
  • Support the development of new performance measures for expanding or evolving client scopes.

Qualifications

Professional and Technical Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related quantitative field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in data analytics, business intelligence, and reporting, ideally within an international supply chain or global health environment.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Power BI (Desktop and Service), advanced DAX, and Power Query.
  • Strong proficiency in writing complex SQL queries (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server) and relational database modeling.
  • Familiarity with programming languages for analytics (Python or R) is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in data warehouse concepts, ETL pipelines, and ERP systems.
  • Proven ability to provide technical direction, coordinate project delivery, and mentor junior colleagues.
  • Must be eligible to work in the Netherlands.
