Security Engineer II

Are you passionate about SAP security and ready to make a real impact across a complex, enterprise-scale landscape? Do you thrive at the intersection of technology, governance, and innovation? If so, this could be the role for you!

About the Role

As a Security Engineer II based in Bangalore, you will be at the heart of securing one of the most diverse and dynamic SAP environments in the financial services industry. You will play a pivotal role in shaping identity, access, and authorization solutions across a broad SAP ecosystem — balancing day-to-day operational excellence with forward-thinking project delivery. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with cutting-edge SAP technologies, collaborate with global stakeholders, and continuously push the boundaries of what secure, compliant, and efficient access management looks like.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, operate, and govern identity, access, and authorization solutions across a large and diverse SAP landscape

• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, technical documentation, and security guidelines to ensure consistency and compliance

• Act as a subject matter expert and central point of contact for SAP security and authorization topics across the organization

• Analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into secure, scalable, and sustainable solutions that meet both operational and audit needs

• Design and implement authorization changes within established release and change management processes, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum security

• Develop and maintain access products and role concepts that enable compliant, efficient, and timely access provisioning across the landscape

• Monitor, analyze, and resolve security- and authorization-related incidents and issues, ensuring swift and effective responses

• Provide extended support during upgrades, go-lives, migrations, and hyper-care periods, ensuring seamless transitions

• Assess security risks and design and implement appropriate controls and security-hardening measures to protect critical business data

• Support business and IT stakeholders during internal and external audits, including the preparation and review of relevant evidence

• Identify opportunities to simplify, automate, and continuously improve security and access-management processes, driving efficiency and innovation

About the Team

Swiss Re operates two major SAP finance landscapes: one centered around SAP S/4HANA General Ledger and another around SAP Financial Products Subledger (FPSL). The Access team is a collaborative, globally distributed group that supports both build/project and run/operations activities across these environments, together with the related applications, platforms, and infrastructure.

Our responsibilities span identity, access, authorization, security, and governance across a rich and evolving technology stack, including:

• SAP S/4HANA – application authorizations

• SAP HANA – database security and authorizations

• SAP BW – Analysis Authorizations

• SAP Fiori – catalogs, groups, spaces, pages, and application access

• SAP Process Orchestration (PO)

• SAP HANA XS Advanced (XSA)

• SAP Business Planning and Consolidation (BPC)

• SAP Solution Manager

• ChaRM – change and transport management

• Central User Administration (CUA)

• SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)

• SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP)

• SAP Integration Suite

• SAP Cloud ALM

The team leverages ServiceNow to manage changes, incidents, operational tasks, and access requests, and uses the Xiting Authorizations Management Suite (XAMS) to strengthen and optimize SAP security and authorization management — including supporting the business with its Segregation of Duties (SoD) control framework. We are a team that values curiosity, collaboration, and continuous improvement, and we take pride in delivering secure, reliable, and future-ready solutions.

About You

You are a technically strong and curious SAP security professional who brings both depth of knowledge and a collaborative spirit to everything you do. You are comfortable navigating complexity, communicating across technical and business boundaries, and taking ownership of your work within a global, diverse team. You bring a proactive mindset and a genuine passion for SAP security, access governance, and continuous improvement.

We Are Looking for Candidates Who Meet These Requirements:

• Strong hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA security, including roles, authorizations, and access design in complex enterprise environments

• Solid knowledge and practical experience with SAP Fiori security and authorizations, including catalogs, groups, spaces, and application access configuration

• Solid knowledge and practical experience with SAP HANA database security and authorizations, including user management and privilege concepts

• Experience with identity and access management in at least one additional SAP technology (e.g., SAP BW, BTP, SAC, Integration Suite, Solution Manager, or others listed above)

• Minimum 5 years of relevant SAP security experience, with a strong understanding of role design, access governance, security controls, and the ability to translate complex requirements into practical, secure technical solutions

These Are Additional Nice to Haves:

• Experience with Segregation of Duties (SoD), audit requirements, security controls, or access governance frameworks

• Familiarity with XAMS (Xiting Authorizations Management Suite) or similar SAP security tooling

• Experience with ServiceNow or similar ITSM platforms for managing changes, incidents, and access requests

• An interest in automation and modernizing security and access-management processes

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work through complex, multi-system authorization challenges

• A proactive, self-driven, and creative approach, with a genuine interest in SAP security and continuous improvement

• A collaborative and service-oriented mindset, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

• Curiosity and motivation to learn and explore new SAP technologies as the landscape evolves

• Ability to take ownership while working effectively as part of a global and diverse team
