PlaneSense, Inc., a growing private aviation company, is seeking an experienced IT Project Portfolio Manager to lead, organize, and deliver technology initiatives that support our aviation and business operations and goals. This role is ideal for a strong project “sherpa” who enjoys working across departments, managing complex priorities, and helping teams turn ideas into successful technology solutions.
As the central owner of the IT project portfolio, this position will align technology initiatives with business priorities, resource capacity, governance standards, and measurable outcomes. The IT Project Portfolio Manager will work closely with business stakeholders, software development teams, infrastructure engineers, vendors, and executive leadership to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, within scope, and with meaningful business impact.
Work Location: This role is based in Portsmouth, NH, or Boston MA metro area with a hybrid schedule that includes three days in the office and two days remote each week.
What You’ll Do
- Lead multiple independent and interdependent IT projects from initiation through completion.
- Manage project scope, timelines, budgets, resources, risks, issues, dependencies, and change requests.
- Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, charters, budgets, dashboards, and status reports.
- Facilitate project meetings, steering committee updates, and executive status reviews.
- Partner with Product Owners and project teams to prioritize and manage Agile backlogs.
- Lead Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily standups, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and backlog refinement.
- Coordinate project activities across IT, Operations, Finance, HR, Maintenance, and other business areas.
- Work with third-party vendors, consultants, and implementation partners.
- Support business case development, ROI analysis, and project adoption.
- Maintain project documentation, governance artifacts, lessons learned, and post-implementation reviews.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of project management processes and overall project management maturity.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering, Project Management or a related field.
- 7+ years of demonstrable experience managing IT projects.
- Strong experience with Atlassian products for project management.
- Experience managing enterprise software implementation projects.
- Experience managing cross-functional project teams.
- Experience managing project budgets, timelines, and vendor relationships.
- Demonstrated success delivering complex projects in Agile environments.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification from PMI, active and in good standing, or an equivalent enterprise project management certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Agile certification preferred.
- Experience with Atlassian Jira, including epics, user stories, tasks, bugs, sprint boards, Kanban boards, roadmaps, dashboards, reporting, and metrics.
- Experience with Microsoft Project, Confluence, Microsoft Teams, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle, cloud-based solutions, Agentic AI projects, enterprise software implementations, infrastructure, cybersecurity concepts, and systems integration projects.
- Certifications such as Certified Scrum Master (CSM), PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP), SAFe Scrum Master (SSM), SAFe Agilist (SA), and/or Professional Scrum Master (PSM).
- Experience in aviation, transportation and logistics, financial services, SaaS software, or operational technology environments.
