About the Role
We're looking for an ambitious, AI-native QA Engineer to own quality across our AI-powered research platform. This is not a role where you pick up tickets and run through a checklist. You will be the person who decides what "working" means for a product where an AI writes part of the answer, and you will use AI coding tools to build the tests that prove it.
You will work directly on the AI research platform: agentic chat, automated survey and report generation, multi-language markets. The role sits between engineering and our research team, so you will spend as much time understanding what a good research output looks like as you do writing tests. If you want a job where the test strategy already exists, this isn't it. If you want to define it, keep reading.
What You'll Be Doing
Test the product by hand. Before anything gets automated, someone has to actually use the product like a customer would and spot what's wrong. That's you: exploratory testing on new features, release checks, and chasing down the odd behaviour nobody can reproduce.
Automate the rest with AI. Our end-to-end tests run in Playwright, and you write them using Claude Code and Cursor to do the heavy lifting. You don't need years of framework experience. You need to know what to test, how to describe it clearly, and how to review what the AI gives you back. Over time you decide what stays manual and what earns a place in the suite.
Test AI features, not just screens. An AI answer is different every time, so "did it match exactly?" is the wrong question. You'll work out the right ones: is the output accurate, on-topic, complete, in the right language, and useful to a researcher? Then you'll turn those judgements into repeatable checks.
Work closely with the researchers. Our research team knows what a good survey, report, and insight looks like. You'll sit with them, learn their standards, and turn that knowledge into the quality bar the product is held to. You are their voice inside engineering.
Work closely with engineering. Join feature discussions before code exists, challenge requirements when they're vague, and make sure quality is designed in rather than inspected at the end.
Own quality for your area. Take a feature from idea to release and follow it into production. Nobody will chase you for status. You'll be trusted with the outcome.
About You
- You are genuinely AI-native. You already use AI tools daily to get real work done, and you're excited about a role where Claude Code and Cursor are your main tools.
- You're happy doing both sides of the job: careful manual testing when that's what the feature needs, and automation when it pays off.
- You are hands-on enough to write and run automated tests with AI assistance, and curious enough to keep learning the technical side.
- You have experience testing software, or a strong adjacent background (research operations, product, support) plus a clear pull towards quality and testing.
- You have a point of view on testing AI features. You understand why AI output is hard to test, and you have ideas about what to do about it.
- You take enormous ownership. You close loops without being asked, and an unclear requirement makes you go find the answer.
- You're a strong communicator who enjoys working across teams, in English, with an international cross-functional group.
- You're methodical. You notice what others miss and you write it down clearly.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Playwright or another automated testing tool.
- Experience with Claude Code, Cursor, or similar AI coding tools.
- Experience in market research, survey, or analytics products.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum and Jira.
- Any experience evaluating AI or LLM output for quality.
