Position Summary
UpSlope is seeking a Power BI Analytics Technical Lead to provide technical direction, data-model governance, and analytics support for a federal client. This position will lead the development and governance of enterprise Power BI solutions while helping ensure reporting products, semantic models, and data pipelines are scalable, consistent, and aligned with organizational standards.
The successful candidate will bring strong hands-on experience with Power BI, Microsoft Power Platform, semantic data modeling, DAX, and dataflow-based ETL, along with the ability to provide technical guidance and coordinate Power BI training content with the client's OCIO training manager.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide technical direction for enterprise Power BI and data analytics initiatives.
- Develop, maintain, and optimize Power BI dashboards, reports, and analytics solutions.
- Establish and support governance standards for Power BI semantic models, datasets, measures, and reporting products.
- Design and maintain scalable semantic data models supporting enterprise reporting and analytics.
- Develop and optimize complex DAX calculations, measures, and business logic.
- Build and support dataflow-based ETL processes for data preparation, transformation, and integration.
- Leverage Microsoft Power Platform capabilities to support analytics and business-process requirements.
- Promote consistent data definitions, modeling standards, reporting practices, and analytics governance.
- Review existing Power BI solutions and recommend improvements related to performance, maintainability, usability, and scalability.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to Power BI developers, analysts, and business users.
- Coordinate development and maintenance of Power BI training content in partnership with the OCIO training manager.
- Support user adoption through technical documentation, demonstrations, training materials, and knowledge transfer.
- Collaborate with technical teams, program stakeholders, and business users to translate reporting and analytics requirements into effective solutions.
Minimum Qualifications
- Five (5)+ years of hands-on experience with Power BI and enterprise data analytics.
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Power Platform.
- Strong experience designing and managing Power BI semantic models and enterprise datasets.
- Advanced proficiency with DAX for measures, calculations, and analytics logic.
- Experience developing and maintaining dataflow-based ETL processes.
- Experience establishing or supporting data-model governance and enterprise analytics standards.
- Ability to provide technical leadership and direction across Power BI development and analytics initiatives.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience developing, coordinating, or supporting technical training content.
- Federal government or federal-adjacent program experience preferred.
Preferred Certifications
A current role-based Microsoft certification in one or more of the following areas is preferred. Demonstrated equivalent experience may also be considered:
- Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300)
- Microsoft Certified: Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate (DP-600)
