Full description

Orcrist is building a next generation data intelligence platform using cutting-edge technologies. We're handling petabyte-scale data with sub-second queries. Our product is a Kubernetes‑based platform delivered as B2B SaaS or as a self‑hosted on‑prem solution, including air‑gapped deployments. We enable customers across defense, law enforcement, and enterprise to turn mission-critical data into actionable intelligence.

Role

We are looking for a Senior Product Designer (f/m/d) to own end-to-end design across core surfaces of the Orcrist Intelligence Platform. As a generalist, you will span the full product design process: framing complex problems alongside product managers, collaborating directly with stakeholders, designing data-dense interaction patterns, and validating solutions with subject matter experts (SMEs).

You bring a strong product thinking mindset: balancing user needs, technical constraints, and business goals, and excel at turning data complexity into clear, actionable workflows that engineers can build with confidence.

What you'll do

  • Own the full design process: Drive initiatives end-to-end from problem framing and information architecture to UI design, validation, and implementation QA.
  • Product Thinking & Strategy: Partner closely with Product Management and Engineering to evaluate trade-offs, define scope, and align design decisions with platform constraints and business goals.
  • Customer & Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage directly with end users, domain experts, and internal stakeholders to understand workflows, present design iterations, and align on decisions.
  • Multi-method Evaluation: Test and evaluate solutions using diverse validation methods (e.g. scenario walkthroughs, SME sessions, and usability testing).
  • Systemic Design & Handoffs: Define reusable interaction patterns, align with our Design System, and deliver adoption-grade handoff packages (annotated flows, edge cases, acceptance criteria, component specs).
  • Design for Complexity: Champion accessibility, performance, and data-dense usability across graph/network views, timelines, map/geospatial interfaces, and tabular record sets.

About you

  • 5+ years designing complex B2B/enterprise or analytical products (portfolio required showing end-to-end process and product impact).
  • Strong Product Thinking: You think in systems, trade-offs, and outcomes, not just screens or abstract workshop frameworks. You understand technical feasibility and business context.
  • End-to-End Product Ownership: Comfortable and willing to own the entire product lifecycle, from early framing and user research to visual polish and design QA, as well as the ability to contribute to the internal design system.
  • Data-Dense Product Experience: Demonstrated track record with high-complexity UX (e.g., dashboard and graph visualization, large structured/unstructured datasets, or time-series data).
  • Stakeholder & Customer Communication: Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate design decisions clearly to engineers, product leads, and non-design stakeholders.
  • Pragmatic Figma & System Habits: Strong Figma practice and ability to implement flexible design components with disciplined component structures and documentation that engineers can implement smoothly.
  • Autonomy & Technical Literacy: High self-direction in a remote setting, with a working understanding of web technologies and platform constraints (cloud vs. air-gapped).
  • AI-Assisted design and prototyping: Experience using AI tools to support different stages of the product design process, such as research synthesis, prototyping, or exploration. You understand how to use these tools thoughtfully and critically, while maintaining strong design judgement and quality standards.
  • Eligible to work in Germany; EU/NATO citizenship preferred for export control.
  • Languages: Full professional fluency in English (C1+) required.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Analytical AI product experience: Experience designing data-intensive products that help users explore and interpret complex information through an agentic AI assistant, to facilitate analytical research, investigations, or decision making. Familiarity with products such as Palantir or similar platforms is a plus.
  • High-Stakes Domain Exposure: Experience designing for environments where accuracy, security, confidentiality, or auditability are critical, such as public safety, critical infrastructure, risk management, or regulated industries.
  • German language skills (B1+).

What we offer

  • Remote-first, Germany-wide: Work from wherever you do your best work, with regular team gatherings in Berlin and other off-site locations.
  • Flexibility by default: Flexible working hours help you make work fit your life.
  • Your setup, your way: Get a personal home-office equipment budget to create a workspace that works for you.
  • 30 days of vacation: Take the time you need to recharge and come back with fresh energy.
  • Keep growing: We invest in your personal and professional development.
  • Get rewarded for impact: Performance bonuses are tied to agreed objectives and key results.
  • A warm welcome: Every new team member gets a welcome goodie bag.
