$21.50 - $24.50/Hour

The Quality Assurance Technician will play a critical role in being responsible for the activities involved in assuring the quality of all raw materials, intermediates and finished products.

Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Inspect and evaluate raw materials, packaging materials, intermediate ingredients and finished product to meet company food safety, quality and service objectives.
  • Adhere to specification and work instructions as well as provides input for improvements.
  • Review PQG [product quality guarantee] paperwork for conformity to specifications.
  • Conduct GMP inspections.
  • Conduct pre-operational inspections.
  • Conduct on-shift product review evaluations.
  • Report on quality and food safety non-conformances; escalates issues to the QA Supervisor and/or QA Manager in a timely manner
  • Initiate and administer quality and food safety holds
  • Attend and participate in all appropriate meetings (i.e. Quality Huddles, shift handovers, staff meetings, training, etc.)
  • Interact professionally with all other departments (production, receiving, shipping, sanitation, safety and maintenance)
  • Follow all safety procedures in accordance with company requirements and OSHA
  • Assist with new hire onboarding

Lab Technician duties:

  • Responsible for the inspection and microbiological testing of incoming raw materials, intermediate ingredients and finished product following the respective sampling protocol.
  • Perform gluten-free/allergen testing.
  • Participate in proficiency testing.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 months previous QA experience.
  • Knowledge of basic micro techniques (aseptic sampling, dilutions, plating).
  • Good communication skills and ability to read, write and speak English.
  • General Computer Skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access).
  • Must be able to work overtime on weekdays and weekends.

What we prefer:

  • Experience in Quality Assurance in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Previous QA lab experience.
  • Ability to make laboratory math calculations like concentrations, titrations, etc.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Microbiology, or related science.
