Primary Purpose
The Lead Software QA Engineer (level IV) is a member of a team developing and testing power generation control systems that can be remotely controlled and monitored using web and mobile technology solutions. Participates in planning and estimating of software development tasks and will provide technical guidance and mentoring to lesser experienced engineers.
Major Responsibilities
- Utilizes HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Angular 2, C and C++ on Linux to develop new system features and functionality.
- Select technical solutions and approaches and participate in the subsequent design and development process to create cost effective technical solutions.
- Contribute to integrated product solutions that use embedded and server-based software systems to control and monitor power generation systems.
- Support product development plans (schedule, product cost, meeting design inputs).
- Participate in the evaluation and selection of external vendors, consultants and outsourced software development, software tools and libraries.
- Participate in the evaluation and specification of best practices and reusable patterns for software teams.
- Write code to develop new applications, enhancements and fixes to existing web and mobile applications using best practice design patterns to ensure performance and scalability.
- Assist in planning and execution of product development plans (schedule, product cost, meeting design inputs).
- Design solutions for complex or critical problems in the IoT and Connectivity areas by working directly with stakeholders, product managers, UX/UI and other technical leads.
- Produce well written technical design documentation/diagrams for internal and external stakeholders. Responsible for creating/maintaining technical docs.
- Provide technical expertise and support for assigned projects as needed.
- Work across teams within the department and across departments to solve complex technical problems or design solutions.
- Drive, review and participate in defining system requirements for future products and features.
- Lead team(s) to deliver solutions that meet or exceed business needs by having a deep understanding of the business need and/or user problem.
- Stay abreast of industry standards, actively research and review evolving technology, review and recommend usage of technology for Generac solutions.
- Mentor engineering staff on emerging industry trends, technical standards, and design/coding best practices.
- Subject matter expert in specific technology, establish and own best practices in that technology

Education
Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related discipline
