Santa Barbara Infrared, Inc. (SBIR), a subsidiary of HEICO Corporation (NYSE: HEI, HEI.A), is seeking an experienced Technical Sales Engineer to promote, sell, and support SBIR products and solutions for customers in the electro-optical and infrared test market.

SBIR designs and manufactures technologically advanced Infrared (IR) and Electro-Optical (E-O) test instrumentation supporting military and commercial sensor systems worldwide. SBIR provides highly integrated, well-engineered hardware and software solutions used in laboratory, production, depot, and field test applications. Our customers include defense contractors, research laboratories, infrared sensor and camera manufacturers, and government research organizations.

Position Summary

The Technical Sales Engineer will promote, sell, and support SBIR products, including products from its subsidiary IR Cameras. Product areas include IR cameras, electro-optic test equipment and test systems for visible and infrared camera systems, and laser targeting systems. The role combines consultative technical selling with direct pre- and post-sales customer support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Promote, sell, and support all SBIR products, including products from its subsidiary IR Cameras.
  • Support product areas including IR cameras, electro-optic test equipment and test systems for visible and infrared camera systems, and laser targeting systems.
  • Provide direct pre- and post-sales customer support, including sales quotations, product presentations, and on-site customer visits.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers across defense, research, infrared sensing, camera manufacturing, and government research organizations.
  • Manage a sales pipeline and proactively follow opportunities from initial customer engagement through quotation and close.
  • Occasional travel is required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements / Experience

  • 5+ years of sales or technical/engineering experience with optical and/or camera test systems, or similar related experience.
  • Ability to manage a sales pipeline.
  • Strong consultative customer sales and technical support skills.
  • Proactive approach with strong account management, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Experience providing customer support in optics, cameras, and/or test equipment is preferred.
  • Technical degree highly desired; BS or higher in Engineering, Optics, Physics, or a related field.
  • Current knowledge of photonics, IR cameras, and/or IR camera test systems is highly desirable.
  • Self-motivated and computer proficient.

Due to U.S. Export Control Regulations compliance, eligible candidates MUST be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or a person who has been granted asylum; proper documentation required. Pre-employment verifications include background, reference, and ITAR/EAR checks in addition to a pre-employment drug screen.
