Full description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Engineering Manager / Scrum Master with Development Background based in France.

In this role, you’ll provide hands-on leadership and delivery continuity for an established CRM engineering team during a three-month interim engagement. You’ll combine a strong software development background with proven Scrum and team-facilitation expertise to keep day-to-day delivery running smoothly. Rather than focusing on long-term organizational strategy, you’ll remove blockers, facilitate agile ceremonies, support engineers, and maintain momentum across ongoing initiatives. You’ll work closely with product owners, stakeholders, and distributed teams to keep priorities clear and delivery on track. Your ability to quickly build trust and understand an existing technical environment will be critical from day one. This is an opportunity to make an immediate impact in a high-traffic European automotive marketplace serving millions of users.

Accountabilities

  • Facilitate the CRM team’s daily operations and all key Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Maintain delivery continuity and momentum throughout the three-month management coverage period, ensuring commitments and priorities remain on track.
  • Identify, remove, and proactively manage blockers and impediments, escalating risks and dependencies to the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Partner with product owners and business stakeholders to keep the backlog refined, prioritized, and aligned with business objectives.
  • Provide technical guidance and participate credibly in engineering discussions, technical reviews, and decision-making by leveraging a strong software development background.
  • Monitor and communicate team health, delivery progress, and relevant performance metrics to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Support individual team members by encouraging collaboration, accountability, continuous improvement, and a positive team environment.
  • Facilitate effective communication across distributed teams and ensure alignment between engineering, product, and other stakeholders.
  • Quickly absorb existing team context, processes, priorities, and technical initiatives while minimizing disruption to ongoing delivery.
  • Prepare and facilitate a smooth handover of team knowledge, delivery status, and ongoing initiatives to the returning manager at the end of the engagement.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 2 years in an Engineering Manager, Team Lead, Scrum Master, or comparable leadership role.
  • Strong hands-on software development background, with the technical credibility to engage effectively with experienced engineers.
  • Proven experience running Scrum and facilitating agile ceremonies, backlog management, team coaching, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to join established teams quickly, build trust, and maintain delivery momentum with minimal disruption.
  • Experience working closely with product owners, business stakeholders, and cross-functional teams in distributed or remote environments.
  • Strong servant-leadership approach, with excellent communication, facilitation, conflict-resolution, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, with the confidence to make decisions and escalate risks when necessary.
  • Ability to work full-time within Canada time zones despite being based in the Netherlands.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Comfortable working in a short-term interim assignment where rapid onboarding, continuity, and immediate impact are priorities.

Nice to have:

  • Experience working with CRM systems or customer-facing technology platforms.
  • Scrum Master or Agile certification such as CSM or PSM.
  • Previous experience in interim management, temporary leadership, or management coverage assignments.
  • Experience within e-commerce, online marketplaces, automotive technology, or other high-traffic consumer platforms.

Benefits:

  • Flexible working format: Choose a remote, office-based, or hybrid working arrangement, depending on the engagement setup.
  • Competitive compensation: Receive a competitive salary and compensation package.
