Position Summary

 

The Gas Turbine Repair Engineering Manager role is an integral part of the engineering team developing repairs of aeroderivative gas turbines components.  These repairs restore the components to perform we in turbines in peaker applications. We utilize state-of-the-art blue light scanning, superalloy welding, brazing, HVOF & air plasma spray coatings and vacuum heat treating to restore parts to serviceable condition.

The Engineering Repair Manager drives engineering excellence, operational performance, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, reliable, and cost-effective repair solutions. In addition, this role provides strategic leadership for the development of new repair technologies, introduction of new component repair capabilities, and support of repair operations for aeroderivative turbine components.

Position Responsibilities

  • Development of safe, high quality, reliable and cost-effective repair processes to deliver repaired components.
  • Introduction of new repair processes and full component repair into the repair shop 
  • Quality, cost, delivery and responsiveness to customer/project specific repair scopes.
  • Optimize, streamline, and improve all inspection and repair processes.
  • Work-in-Progress repair quality issue resolution
  • Repair equipment and tooling definition and fabrication.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of repair engineers and technical specialists responsible for gas turbine component repair development and implementation.
  • Establish and execute engineering strategies that support business objectives related to quality, safety, delivery, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee engineering support for daily repair shop operations, ensuring timely resolution of technical and quality-related issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize inspection, repair, and manufacturing processes, reducing cycle times and improving productivity.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action activities related to repair quality, process performance, and customer concerns.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • Broad experience in aircraft engines and/or aeroderivative gas turbine component repair.
  • Manage a team of repair engineers and work with repair shops to develop and execute repair processes of aeroderivative gas turbines components.
  • Minimum 7-10 year of technical leadership, engineering management, or supervisory experience of aircraft engine or aeroderivative gas turbine repair facility.
  • Ability to communicate technically with repair shop personnel, including supervisors and operators.
  • Demonstrated experience managing engineering projects and leading cross-functional teams.
  • Adept at reading and interpreting geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) in printed and digital drawing/model formats
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Minimum of 3 years of technical leadership, engineering management, or supervisory experience.
  • Must be fluent in English, with strong speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension skills.
  • US work authorization is a precondition of employment. The company will not consider candidates who require sponsorship for a work-authorized visa.
  • Successful candidate will need to satisfactorily complete pre-employment drug screen and background check

Desired Qualifications

  • Preferred a minimum 10-15 years of experience in developing and applying aircraft engines and/or aeroderivative gas turbine component repair processes or extensive experiences with repair processes on products with comparable superalloys, coating systems, and thermal/mechanical fatigue issues.
  • Broad aeroderivate gas turbine component repair experience: LM6000/PE6000/LM2500 preferred.
  • Applied experience with CREO or other Computer Aided Design (CAD) applications desired.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve problems in a logical and effective manner.
  • Ability to perform research, compile and analyze data, and write clear, concise and accurate reports on complex subjects.
