Full description

Datamine has championed data, analytics and AI for over 30 years. As organisations across Australia and New Zealand increasingly invest in AI and data-driven decisions, we’re seeking a Client & Delivery Manager to join our Client Services team to deliver projects and solutions to our clients.

If you want a role where your judgement is needed rather than just useful, this is it.

This is a full-time role based in our Parnell office.

About the role

An engagement lands on your desk the moment it's won, sold on a promise you didn't personally make, and it's yours from there: on scope, on margin, with the client's confidence intact. Getting the first big one right is what earns the second.

In this role, you’ll stand between a client’s ambiguous want and a technical team’s reality and make calls that stick with both sides, ultimately translating technical outputs into a compelling story to present back. You don't need analytics or data science depth; we have specialists for that.

You’ll build trust with a client who doesn’t know us yet, often under delivery pressure, and resolve disagreements between the client and the delivery team rather than passing them up the chain. You’ll talk about money without flinching, and you’ll carry the ongoing advisory relationship with the clients you hold: sitting with a senior stakeholder, asking what they're really facing, and shaping the next piece of work out of what you hear.

This isn't pre-sales or business development. It isn't day-to-day retainer or product delivery, and it isn't people management.

No two days look exactly the same, but your work will typically involve:

  • Taking handover of a newly won engagement from Sales, and testing the promise against reality before the client hears otherwise
  • Setting firm deliverables, acceptance criteria and a delivery plan before work starts, not after
  • Leading multi-workstream engagements end to end, on quality, timeliness and margin
  • Having the hard commercial conversation when scope or margin needs pulling back on track
  • Briefing the Owls and technical team on an engagement, then trusting them to run it
  • Catching a wrong number or a data inconsistency before it reaches the client
  • Sitting with senior stakeholders, unscripted, to shape the next piece of work
  • Converting a first engagement into a second, and building the relationship that gets you there
  • Updating core project management systems and reporting project progress to the wider team

What you'll bring

  • 8-15 years of commercial experience, most of it personally owning delivery of client engagements, not just running the project plan
  • Genuine comfort with numbers, enough to smell a wrong one in a model you didn't build
  • Commercial nerve, comfortable with price, scope and saying no, particularly at set-up
  • Comfortable being disagreed with, and just as comfortable disagreeing
  • Someone who pushes on a blocker rather than going with it
  • Comfortable starting cold, able to walk into a room where nobody knows you and be useful within the hour
  • Excellent communication, particularly live and in the room

What Datamine offers

  • Competitive salary aligned with experience
  • A chance to make your mark in a growing business
  • The opportunity to learn from and work alongside experts in their field
  • A values-driven organisation where accountability matters more than hierarchy
  • A supportive environment where you’ll have genuine ownership and your contributions are valued
  • An opportunity to work with a diverse and talented team
  • An environment that will allow you to be you and to thrive
  • A place that celebrates our wins and is on the path of continual learning
  • An Employee Assistance Program
  • Subsidised health insurance

Oh, and did we mention, lunch and coffee are on us. It’s always worth reading to the end of the ad!
