The Senior Financial Analyst is a hands-on, accounting-grounded FP&A role responsible for the budgeting, forecasting, indirect (OH & G&A) rate development, and business partnership activities that support Cherokee Federal's overhead and G&A pools. This is an execution-focused, individual-contributor role reporting directly to the Sr. Director, Finance. The successful candidate will have working knowledge of indirect cost accounting with the ability to independently own the monthly, quarterly, and annual OH & G&A cycle from day one. This position sits at the center of the FP&A/Accounting/Financial Compliance relationship and has primary oversight of indirect rate budgeting, forecasting, and reporting, working closely with the Sr. Director of Finance, and coordinating regularly with Accounting and Financial Compliance leadership.

Senior Financial Analyst Corporate Overhead & Administrative Costs Responsibilities Include:
Planning, Budgeting & Rate Strategy
- Build and maintain the annual overhead and G&A budgets across departments, accounts, and cost categories, including labor, fringe, and non-labor spend.
- Manage the annual department budget process end-to-end, including the calendar, templates, and department head submissions.
- Develop indirect rate build-ups and reforecasts to support pricing and proposal activity.
- Maintain and reconcile service center and cost pool data used in the budgeting and rate-setting process.
- Support headcount modeling and position-level budgeting for indirect departments.
Forecasting & Analysis
- Prepare recurring forecasts of overhead and G&A department spend and projected rates.
- Own the process for updating and reconciling actuals, identifying accruals, reclasses, and correcting entries, and coordinating with accounting.
- Deliver budget-vs-actual and forecast-vs-actual variance analysis with clear, decision-ready explanations.
- Conduct rate impact and profitability analysis to inform pricing competitiveness.
- Build scenario and what-if models for proposals, hiring, facilities, reorganizations, and other cost drivers.
- Identify cost trends and cost-reduction opportunities through ongoing trend and run-rate analysis.
Business Partnership & Reporting
- Lead regular meetings with department heads on budget, forecast, headcount, and commitment status related to OH and G&A.
- Support leadership-level reporting on indirect spend and rate performance.
- Review and approve budget, project, and account-level activity, including capital expenditure.
- Recommend budget realignments, spend controls, and rate strategy.
- Partner with Business Development and Pricing on rate competitiveness.
Cross-Functional & Rate Validation
- Validate actual rate calculations against forecast and explain variances in partnership with accounting.
- Build the basis for provisional billing rates in partnership with Financial Compliance.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned.
Senior Financial Analyst Corporate Overhead & Administrative Costs Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting or FP&A, ideally within a government contracting or similarly regulated environment.
- Working knowledge of indirect cost structures; cost pools, bases, and rate build-ups
- Strong financial modeling and analytical skills, with comfort working across financial planning and accounting systems.
- Demonstrated ability to independently own a recurring monthly and quarterly close, forecast, and reporting cycle.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort presenting variance narratives to department heads and finance leadership.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with government contract cost accounting standards and indirect rate compliance concepts.
- Experience supporting leadership-level financial reporting packages.
- OneStream and/or Costpoint experience.
