This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Business Analyst based in Canada.
As a Senior Business Analyst, you will serve as a critical bridge between business stakeholders, product teams, engineering, and QA within a technology-driven environment. You will translate complex clinical research and business needs into clear, actionable requirements that development teams can confidently deliver. The role combines requirements elicitation, agile delivery, process analysis, documentation, and stakeholder management. You will help shape product direction by turning ambiguous challenges into structured user stories, acceptance criteria, workflows, and functional specifications. You will also support backlog prioritization, sprint ceremonies, UAT, and stakeholder sign-off throughout the delivery lifecycle. Accountabilities:
- Act as a key communication bridge with client project stakeholders, providing clarity on project status, requirements, delivery priorities, risks, and recommendations.
- Elicit, analyze, document, and manage business requirements from product owners, business stakeholders, and technical teams within a software product environment.
- Translate business needs into well-defined user stories, acceptance criteria, business requirements documents (BRDs), functional specifications, and other actionable deliverables.
- Maintain clear and structured requirements documentation in Jira and Confluence, ensuring development and QA teams have the information needed to deliver against agreed expectations.
- Facilitate backlog grooming, sprint planning, stakeholder reviews, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and other Agile ceremonies in collaboration with engineering, QA, and product stakeholders.
- Conduct gap analyses and workflow mapping to identify inefficiencies, clarify business processes, and recommend improvements to the platform and associated workflows.
- Support UAT planning and execution by preparing test scripts, coordinating with business and QA stakeholders, tracking feedback, and facilitating stakeholder sign-off.
- Create and maintain supporting documentation such as process flow diagrams, data dictionaries, use case diagrams, and other business and functional artifacts.
- Participate in project governance activities and help ensure requirements, priorities, and delivery expectations remain aligned throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Communicate technical concepts and delivery considerations clearly to non-technical stakeholders while ensuring business context is effectively represented within engineering teams.
- Proactively identify gaps, dependencies, risks, and potential delivery challenges, helping teams make informed decisions and maintain momentum.
Requirements
- 3+ years of business analysis experience in a software product, technology, or professional services environment.
- Demonstrated experience eliciting and documenting requirements from both business and technical stakeholders.
- Strong ability to author high-quality user stories, acceptance criteria, BRDs, process documentation, and functional specifications.
- Hands-on experience facilitating Agile/Scrum ceremonies and managing backlog priorities using Jira and Confluence.
- Practical experience supporting UAT planning and execution, including test script preparation and acting as a liaison between business stakeholders and QA teams.
- Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and software development processes.
- Proficiency with Jira, Confluence, and collaboration tools such as Slack or Microsoft Teams.
- Experience producing process flow diagrams, data dictionaries, use cases, and other structured business analysis deliverables.
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trust and communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Excellent English proficiency, both written and spoken, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills, combined with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving challenges.
- Experience in clinical trials, healthcare IT, or regulated software environments is highly desirable, particularly familiarity with GxP or 21 CFR Part 11 requirements.
- Familiarity with API concepts and the ability to review and understand technical specifications is an advantage.
- Experience working within multi-vendor delivery models is a plus.
- CBAP or an equivalent business analysis certification is considered an advantage.
