UPMC Corporate is hiring a Senior Project Manager, Construction to join our team in Erie! This role will work Monday through Friday during standard business hours. The position will require regional travel as needed for projects.
The Senior Project Manager works under the general direction of the Director of Construction/Project Director to carry out large construction projects. This position requires a high level of understanding of the construction management process. This individual must interact with the hospital department heads and senior leadership to manage projects within the established timelines and budgets. The senior project manager is also a mentor to the project managers and engineers as they develop in their roles.

Responsibilities:
- Develops and monitors the construction project budgets. Communicates monthly budget status to senior management and the Director of Construction/Project Director. Contributes to the Capital Construction Budget by providing construction project estimates.
- Oversees all aspects of the projects including, design, planning, estimating, scheduling and construction management services. Manages large construction projects, coordinating the resources of the external A/E firm, contractor for the project , internal project engineers, interior designer, equipment planner and other resources as necessary.
- Oversees the bidding and/or negotiation phase of the large construction projects to obtain the best prices for the work.
- Maintains an on-going knowledge of external regulations and the impact on the construction process. Arranges for the necessary regulatory inspections during the project.
- Coordinates construction management personnel, supply chain management personnel, outside vendors, contractors and design professionals to assure comprehensive satisfaction of the end user for all projects assigned.
- Establishes written project timelines and communicates them to the administrative sponsor of the project and the Director of Construction/Project Director.
- Reviews construction documents prepared by the A+E firms for accuracy, constructability and value engineering ideas.
- Coaches and mentors staff. Provides leadership to the project managers and project engineers. Explains processes and construction management techniques.
- Maintains a working knowledge of the existing facilities and their utilization.
- Bachelors Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction management or related field preferred with ten (10) years construction management experience OR High School and fifteen (15) years of relevant project experience may be considered.
- Solid knowledge of hospital construction and health care equipment required.
- Experience in a commercial construction field highly preferred.
- Leadership experience is preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of project management principles.
- Ability to develop and monitor budgets for large construction projects.
- Excellent collaboration, communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to function independently on assigned projects and effectively coordinate and provide leadership to assigned team members.
- Must have a construction portfolio that contains experience with construction projects worth $5 million or greater.
- Demonstrated proficiency in core MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Projects and Outlook.
