The Idaho National Laboratory is seeking a Financial Analyst. This position serves as the liaison between the Director of Financial Planning and Analysis (M&O) and Business Management to ensure compliance in all financial matters by providing lab level financial analysis, to ensure and maintain integrity of costing structures, and monitor lab-wide unallowable expenditures. This position will also serve as a mentor to other financial analysts by providing guidance on cost accounting standards, laboratory burdening structures, and overall financial analysis. This role reports to the Director of FPA M&O.

This position is onsite and may be based at either of the two sites below.

  • Idaho Falls offices on a 9x80 schedule (every other Friday off), or
  • INL desert site facilities on a 4x10 schedule (every Friday off)

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist in the preparation and analysis of laboratory level indirect rates and forecasts.
  • Provide data for laboratory level and senior management data requests. Perform ad-hoc analysis for management, staff, and DOE.
  • Perform impact analysis on internal and external customers of potential cost model changes.
  • Mentor staff on burden applicability, charging practices, cost models, etc.
  • Prepare laboratory level financial reports, Leadership and Management Team presentations.
  • Forecast out-year funding, carryover projections, FTE projections, indirect cost affordability, etc.
  • Maintain burden schedules.
  • Unallowable budget reporting.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Level 3: Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree and 2 years of relevant experience with a Degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Accounting or related field.
  • Level 4: Bachelor’s degree and 9 years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree and 6 years of relevant experience with a Degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Accounting or related field.
  • This position may require a Department of Energy "L or Q" clearance depending on work location, which requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain such clearance.

Job Information:

  • The pay range for this position is: Level 3- Salary Grade 430 ($66,504- $136,356)/ Level 4-Salary Grade 440 ($79,344 - $162,732).
  • At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials
  • Multi-Level: This is a multi-level posting and you will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on depth and breadth of proven experience and skills.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this classification, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, bend, use hands to handle materials, manipulate tools, keyboard and type, reach with hands and arms, and operate job related equipment. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Sufficient visual acuity and hearing capacity to perform the essential functions and interact with people is required.
