Full description

Hygiena provides rapid microbiology diagnostic tests and solutions for mission-critical, time-sensitive processes around the world. Hygiena’s proprietary diagnostic technologies enable customers to prevent illness and save lives, comply with regulations, protect products and brands, run businesses more effectively. Solutions are sold in a wide range of industries globally, but the core focus is food safety. Headquartered in Camarillo, California and with offices around the world, we are actively looking for talented individuals to help grow the business!

At Hygiena we believe:

  • In providing the highest quality products & service
  • Being a leader in innovation
  • Having a compelling desire to improve and win in the marketplace
  • In contributing positively not only in the workplace, but in our community and environment!

With rapid growth comes opportunity. We are looking for a Graphic Designer III to join our team in Camarillo, CA! This is a full-time / exempt position. Graphic Design produces the visual system that lets Hygiena look like one company in every region, segment and format. It is working when a regional marketer, agency or salesperson can build on-brand material from a master asset without starting over, and when what reaches a customer or a printer is right the first time. The Graphic Designer III delivers a broad range of print and digital design work, applying the master templates and modular assets owned by the Senior Graphic Designer and extending them into new applications. It produces the design components of global campaign collections and playbooks that regional teams localize, and approves final artwork for print collateral against the brand standards. This role applies the brand system with independent creative judgment. It is not an order-taking production service.

Responsibilities:

Multi-format design

  • Delivers print, digital, motion graphics, large-format and trade show design work, including presentations carrying technical or commercial messaging, built from the master templates and modular assets. Translates scientific and technical content into visuals that the named subject-matter reviewer confirms as accurate.

Applying and extending the brand system

  • Applies the master templates and modular assets to new applications and formats, so on-brand material is produced from the system rather than from a blank page. Recommends new templates or modules to the Senior Graphic Designer where a recurring need is not yet covered.

Global campaign collections and playbooks

  • Produces the design components of campaign collections and playbooks rolled out globally, built so regional teams can localize them without redesign: editable source files, layouts that accommodate translated text, clear usage guidance, and assets filed for regional access. The campaign owner owns playbook content and rollout. Reflects updates to the brand standards in these materials; the Director of Global Brand & Corporate Marketing approves changes to the standards.

Final artwork and print production

  • Approves final artwork for print collateral against brand standards and production specifications, escalating exceptions to the Senior Graphic Designer. Manages print and production vendors through specifications, proofs and press checks, and directs photo shoots.

Design delivery and stakeholder management

  • Agrees design requirements, scope and delivery dates with cross-functional stakeholders and external vendors, and delivers against them. Where competing requests or capacity put a date at risk, escalates to the Senior Graphic Designer with a documented trade-off before the date is missed, not after. Provides creative guidance and peer review to other designers as assigned.

Asset management

  • Files every finished asset and source file in the digital asset management system to the naming, tagging and metadata conventions set by Marketing Operations, and recommends improvements to those conventions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (required).
  • Minimum of six (6) years of professional graphic design experience across print and digital, including large-format or trade show work (required).
  • Portfolio demonstrating multi-format work produced within an established brand system (required).
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop and After Effects (required).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, including working within master slide templates (required).
  • Advanced knowledge of print production for offset and digital printing, including color management, finishing, die cutting, bindery and press checks (required).
  • Demonstrated project and vendor management on multi-stakeholder projects (required).
  • Experience designing layouts for multi-language localization (required).
  • Experience visualizing scientific, technical or regulated product information for B2B audiences (preferred).
  • Advanced photography and photo retouching skills (preferred).
  • Experience using AI-assisted design and content tools in a production workflow (preferred).

Salary Range (applicable to California):

$75,000.00 - $85,000.00/base salary DOE

Skills/Abilities:

  • Presents design rationale to non-designers and incorporates review feedback without compromising brand integrity.
  • Translates complex technical or scientific information into a clear visual hierarchy.
  • Manages multiple concurrent projects against fixed dates and raises conflicts early with a proposed trade-off.
  • Writes clear, accurate design specifications and vendor briefs.
  • Exercises exceptional attention to detail, including typography, color accuracy and trademark usage.
  • Gives constructive creative feedback to peers.
  • Interacts effectively with internal and external customers at all levels.
  • Uses discretion and independent judgment on design and production decisions.
