Position Overview

The Lead Product Designer at KnowledgeCity sets the design direction for our entire suite of learning and workforce products, across web and mobile, in an AI-native operating model. Reporting to the Head of Product, you own the design system, the UX standards, and the UX Designer AI agent that Product Engineers use to design and build their products.

This is not a traditional designer role. You don't hand off mockups; you design the system that AI agents design with. You encode principles, patterns, and components into agent skills, use AI to research, prototype, and audit at a speed no traditional team can match, and personally lead the critical cross-product experiences. Your success is measured by the quality and consistency of everything AI produces across the platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • AI-Native Design System: Own and evolve the design system, design tokens, and component library as a machine-readable source of truth that AI agents and code generators consume directly. Ensure it supports theming (company, app, and client branding), localization, right-to-left layouts, and accessibility.
  • UX Designer Agent Ownership: Own, configure, and continuously train the UX Designer agent: write and maintain its skills, prompts, and design rules, define its review criteria and quality gates, and improve it from audit results, so any Product Engineer operating it gets consistent, production-quality designs.
  • AI-First Design Workflow: Use AI end to end in your own work: generate and iterate concepts, build interactive prototypes in code, synthesize research, write UX copy, and produce documentation, moving from idea to validated prototype in hours, not weeks.
  • Design-to-Code Quality: Work with Product Engineers and their AI Developer agents so that designs translate directly into working UI. Review AI-generated screens and front-end output against the design system before release.
  • Cross-Product Experience Design: Personally design the experiences that tie the platform together: the platform home for employees and administrators, client-branded homepages and templates, app navigation and switching, sign-in, and the transitions between products.
  • AI-Powered UX Audits: Run continuous UX audits across all products with the UX agent in auditor mode, score them against the standards, and turn findings into prioritized tickets for each Product Engineer.
  • Accessibility & Localization: Ensure every new feature meets WCAG 2.1 AA, and that RTL and multilingual experiences are first-class, with these rules built into the agent's skills, not checked after the fact.
  • Research & Validation: Run lightweight user research and usability testing with clients, admins, and end users, using AI to synthesize findings and analytics, and validate designs before they are built.
  • Design Governance & Documentation: Maintain versioned design standards, decision records, and agent skills in Confluence and the product tool; log design feedback as tickets under each product's epic and track it to resolution.
  • Leadership & Continuity: Lead design across the portfolio, coach Product Engineers on design quality and on operating the UX agent, and work in tandem with the design team so design work never stops when one person is unavailable.

Skills and Qualifications

Experience

  • 7+ years of product design experience (UX and UI), including at least 2 years leading design across multiple products or a platform.
  • Proven ownership of a design system and component library used by several product teams, including design tokens and theming.
  • Hands-on, daily use of AI in design work: AI design and prototyping tools, LLMs (such as Claude or ChatGPT), and AI coding tools to build working prototypes.
  • Experience writing prompts, rules, or skills that make AI tools produce consistent, on-brand output, and the judgment to review AI output critically.
  • Strong portfolio of end-to-end B2B SaaS work: complex admin experiences, dashboards, data-heavy screens, and end-user flows.
  • Expert in Figma (components, variants, auto layout, libraries) and comfortable prototyping directly in code.
  • Hands-on experience with accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA) and designing for RTL and multilingual products.
  • Working knowledge of front-end technology (HTML, CSS, web components, React) and how designs are implemented by developers and AI agents.
  • EdTech, HR tech, or multi-tenant SaaS experience is a strong plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Interaction Design, HCI, Visual Design, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.

Skills

  • AI-native mindset: treats AI agents as the main way design work gets done, and designs the rules and systems they follow.
  • Systems thinking: designs platforms and patterns, not one-off screens, and considers the impact of every decision across all products.
  • Design leadership: sets a clear direction, makes decisions, and brings Product Engineers and stakeholders along.
  • Quality bar: strong eye for visual design, interaction detail, and consistency, and holds AI output to the same standard as human work.
  • Speed with judgment: uses AI to move fast while keeping clear control over what ships.
  • User empathy: understands the needs of administrators, managers, and employees, and designs for clarity and simplicity.
  • Structured communication: explains design rationale clearly in writing and in reviews, and gives specific, constructive feedback.
  • Self-managing execution: operates with minimal supervision, prioritizes across many products, and unblocks independently.
  • Ownership and collaboration: takes responsibility for design outcomes across the portfolio and works constructively with every team.
  • Advanced English proficiency, both written and spoken, is mandatory. Arabic is a plus.

Benefits

  • High autonomy and direct ownership of the design direction for KnowledgeCity's entire product portfolio.
  • Work at the frontier of AI-native product design.
  • Paid time off and a supportive, high-trust team environment.
  • Opportunities for professional growth through access to training materials and company courses.
  • Competitive compensation commensurate with experience.
