Position Number: 82 Client: New York City Department of Social Services (DSS) Project: M&O Services for DSS Application Systems Job Title: System Administrator Location: 109 E 16th St, New York, NY 10003 Work Arrangement: On-site in New York City; remote work may be considered for highly qualified candidates.

Position Summary

The System Administrator will support the administration, security, monitoring, and maintenance of server infrastructure supporting New York City Department of Social Services (DSS) application systems. This position is responsible for maintaining secure and reliable server environments, monitoring system and security activity, managing endpoint protection technologies, addressing vulnerabilities, and supporting risk and compliance requirements.

The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience with server administration and infrastructure security, including security monitoring, vulnerability management, endpoint protection, and data loss prevention.

Required Experience

A minimum of six (6) years of professional experience with the required system/server administration and infrastructure security skill sets.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience with server administration, including the maintenance, configuration, monitoring, and support of server environments.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining server security controls and security configurations.
  • Experience with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) technologies.
  • Experience with security and system log monitoring, analysis, and management.
  • Experience with vulnerability management, including identifying, assessing, tracking, and supporting remediation of server and application vulnerabilities.
  • Experience supporting risk management and compliance requirements.
  • Experience administering and supporting anti-virus and anti-malware solutions.
  • Experience with endpoint protection and endpoint security technologies.
  • Experience reviewing and managing applicable server and application security logs.
  • Experience with Data Loss Prevention (DLP) technologies and security controls.
  • Ability to identify and respond to potential security issues affecting server and application environments.
  • Ability to document system configurations, security controls, vulnerabilities, remediation activities, and other technical processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer, configure, maintain, and monitor servers supporting DSS application systems.
  • Maintain server security configurations and ensure appropriate security controls are implemented.
  • Monitor server and application logs for security events, system issues, and potential threats.
  • Utilize SIEM and related monitoring tools to support security monitoring and incident identification.
  • Perform and support vulnerability management activities, including vulnerability identification, assessment, tracking, and remediation.
  • Maintain anti-virus, anti-malware, endpoint protection, and related security technologies.
  • Support Data Loss Prevention (DLP) controls and other measures designed to protect organizational data.
  • Assist with risk assessments, compliance activities, security reviews, and remediation efforts.
  • Investigate and assist with the resolution of server, application, and endpoint security issues.
  • Maintain accurate technical and security documentation.
  • Collaborate with application, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and other technical teams to maintain secure, stable, and reliable systems.
