This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior System Administrator based in the United States.
This is a senior infrastructure role supporting secure, reliable, and high-performing enterprise technology environments. You will manage a broad technology landscape spanning Windows Server, Active Directory, AWS, Azure, and Microsoft 365. The role combines hands-on administration, cloud operations, infrastructure deployments, security, automation, and technical support. You will contribute to new environment builds, system upgrades, disaster recovery, monitoring, and capacity planning. As an escalation-level resource, you will troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues while meeting defined service levels. You will also collaborate with security and client teams, document operational standards, and mentor junior administrators. The position is remote or hybrid within the U.S., with occasional customer travel and scheduled on-call responsibilities.

Accountabilities
• Administer, maintain, troubleshoot, and support enterprise server, cloud, network, and collaboration infrastructure in accordance with client requirements and established service standards.
• Build, deploy, configure, and maintain Windows Server environments, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, certificate services, file and print services, and related infrastructure.
• Manage AWS infrastructure including EC2, S3, EBS, VPC, IAM, Route 53, and CloudWatch, while supporting Azure IaaS, Entra ID, and hybrid identity and directory synchronization.
• Administer Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, and Intune.
• Support network-related services such as VPNs, load balancers, firewalls, routers, switches, and associated policy changes.
• Perform system maintenance, upgrades, patching, security baseline implementation, and configuration changes across on-premises and cloud environments.
• Monitor infrastructure performance, availability, capacity, resource utilization, cloud consumption, and costs to identify potential risks and optimization opportunities.
• Administer backup, replication, and disaster recovery processes and participate in periodic recovery and restore testing.
• Automate recurring administrative activities using PowerShell, Bash, infrastructure-as-code, or comparable scripting and configuration-management technologies.
• Follow established change-management, configuration-management, security, and compliance procedures, ensuring changes are appropriately reviewed, approved, documented, and implemented.
• Partner with security teams to implement identity, endpoint, cloud security, and configuration controls that support a secure infrastructure environment.
• Provide escalation-level technical support for system, cloud, and network incidents while working within defined SLA requirements.
• Develop and maintain runbooks, technical documentation, standards, and knowledge-base content while mentoring junior administrators and support personnel.
• Contribute to new site and environment deployments, operational improvements, and initiatives designed to increase reliability and administrative efficiency.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on systems administration experience, preferably in enterprise or managed-services environments.
• Advanced expertise in Windows Server administration, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, certificate services, and MFA.
• Hands-on AWS administration experience across services such as EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, Route 53, and CloudWatch, along with working knowledge of Microsoft Azure.
• Strong Microsoft 365 administration experience covering Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, Intune, and Entra ID.
• Working knowledge of networking technologies, including routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, routing, switching, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SMTP, IMAP, and POP3.
• Experience with networking platforms such as Cisco, Meraki, or Palo Alto is valuable.
• Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere or Hyper-V.
• Proficiency with PowerShell or other scripting technologies and an ability to automate repetitive administrative tasks.
• Familiarity with ITIL practices, ticketing systems, change management, and compliance requirements in regulated environments.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple technical priorities effectively.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to collaborate with technical teams, clients, security stakeholders, and less-experienced administrators.
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools, patch management, endpoint configuration, backup, and disaster recovery is beneficial.
• Knowledge of Linux administration, including RHEL or Ubuntu, is a plus.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code and configuration-management tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Bicep/ARM, or CloudFormation is desirable.
• Relevant Microsoft certifications such as AZ-104 or MS-102, AWS certifications such as SysOps Administrator or Solutions Architect, and ITIL training are advantageous.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States and able to participate in an on-call rotation and scheduled after-hours maintenance windows.
• Ability to travel occasionally to customer locations as required.
