POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Senior Program Manager, Basecamp is seeking a Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst to support software development and delivery efforts. This role validates system functionality, identifies defects, supports testing activities, and ensures high-quality releases across development, integration, and production environments.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working closely with developers, business analysts, the PMO, and stakeholders to ensure solutions meet business and technical requirements. Successful candidates take ownership of testing activities and quality outcomes, maintain strong communication and visibility across the team, collaborate effectively across technical and business teams, and support timely, high-quality software delivery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Execute functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing; validate requirements, workflows, and system behavior across environments.
  • Develop and maintain test cases, test scenarios, and test data.
  • Perform SIT and support SAT/UAT activities.
  • Identify, document, and track defects through resolution, providing clear defect details including steps to reproduce, expected versus actual behavior, and supporting data, screenshots, or payloads.
  • Retest fixes, validate deployments, and support troubleshooting and root cause analysis efforts.
  • Validate functionality during and after deployments; assist with smoke testing and production verification.
  • Work closely with developers, BAs, the PMO, and stakeholders to clarify requirements and expected behavior, and participate in requirement reviews and sprint/release activities.
  • Communicate testing status, risks, and issues clearly and proactively.
  • Identify testing gaps and opportunities for improvement, support development of QA standards and best practices, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts across the SDLC.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Active IRS MBI
  • Experience testing web applications, APIs, and integrated systems
  • Understanding of SDLC, Agile, and release processes
  • Experience with defect tracking and test management tools (e.g., JIRA)
  • Ability to analyze requirements and identify edge cases
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with API testing tools such as SOAP UI
  • Experience validating data across systems and databases
  • Familiarity with SQL and backend validation
  • Experience supporting enterprise or tax-related applications
  • Exposure to automated testing tools/frameworks

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The QA Analyst works in a fast-paced, highly collaborative software delivery environment, alongside software developers, business analysts, the PMO, tax subject matter experts, and cybersecurity and infrastructure teams.
