Job Summary & Responsibilities

Onto Innovation is seeking a Compliance & Quality Engineer to support the design, certification, manufacturing, and quality management of advanced semiconductor equipment. This position is responsible for ensuring products comply with applicable safety, regulatory, EMC, and quality standards while maintaining all compliance documentation, certifications, inspections, and audit requirements throughout the product lifecycle.

The successful candidate will work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Service, and Supply Chain teams and serve as the primary liaison with third-party certification organizations such as TÜV Rheinland to support product certifications, inspections, and regulatory compliance activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • CE requirements
  • EMC requirements and testing
  • FM4910
  • Coordinate product certifications, inspections, surveillance audits, and testing activities with TÜV Rheinland, UL, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Maintain all compliance documentation, technical files, risk assessments, test reports, certifications, declarations of conformity, and inspection records.
  • Review electrical schematics, safety circuits, and system designs to ensure compliance with applicable standards.
  • Evaluate engineering changes for potential impacts to certifications and regulatory compliance.
  • Support safety assessments, risk analyses, product verification, and validation testing.
  • Maintain compliance with the ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
  • Manage nonconformance, corrective action, and CAPA processes using AssurX.
  • Facilitate Material Review Board (MRB) activities and drive resolution of product and process nonconformances.
  • Support internal audits, customer audits, ISO audits, and regulatory inspections.
  • Partner with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to drive continuous improvement in product quality, reliability, and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Quality Engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in semiconductor equipment, industrial equipment, or regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Hands-on experience with SEMI S2, SEMI S8, SEMI F47, UL 61010, EN 60204-1, NFPA 79, CE, and EMC compliance.
  • Experience coordinating certification projects with TÜV Rheinland, UL, CSA, or similar agencies.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems.
  • Experience with quality control, nonconformance management, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Experience using electronic QMS systems, preferably AssurX.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Experience with semiconductor inspection, metrology, process, or automation equipment.
  • Experience with Oracle ERP systems.

Travel

  • Up to 15% domestic and international travel to support certification testing, inspections, supplier audits, and customer audits.

Compensation & Growth

  • Base Salary Range:

$102,400.00 - $153,600.00, offered in good faith and based on experience, location, and qualifications.

  • Additional Rewards: Annual bonus opportunities and potential long-term incentives tied to both company and individual success.
