Overview
Reality mapping enables organizations to gain a deeper understanding of the world by creating accurate and up-to-date digital representations from imagery, lidar, and other remotely sensed data. These outputs help users extract insights, improve decision-making, and create immersive experiences such as digital twins.
As an Associate Product Manager, you will help support Esri's Reality Mapping product portfolio while developing your product management skills. Working alongside experienced Product Managers, Product Engineers, Product Marketing, and Global Business Development teams, you will help gather customer and market feedback, document requirements, support product planning activities, and communicate product value to internal and external audiences.
This role is ideal for someone with a background in GIS, imagery, remote sensing, surveying, drones, or related geospatial technologies who is interested in building a career in product management. The position provides exposure to Esri's Product Management Framework, product planning processes, and customer engagement activities while contributing to the future of reality mapping.
Responsibilities
- Identify customer and market needs through research, interviews, customer engagement, and analysis
- Gather and synthesize customer feedback from users, partners, industry events, and Esri Communities
- Collaborate with Product Managers and Product Engineers to document user stories, workflows, and functional requirements
- Participate in product planning discussions by providing customer and market insights
- Assist in maintaining product backlogs, release documentation, and feature specifications
- Support product validation activities, testing efforts, and customer feedback reviews
- Work with Product Marketing on customer stories, demos, presentations, webinars, and product communications
- Demonstrate product knowledge through internal enablement activities, product demonstrations, conference presentations, and customer interactions
- Support go-to-market activities and release readiness efforts in coordination with Product Management, Marketing, Support, and Global Business Development teams
- Contribute to assigned product vision, strategy, and planning activities under the guidance of senior Product Management team members
Requirements
- 1+ years of experience in GIS, imagery, remote sensing, surveying, reality capture, drone mapping, or a related geospatial field
- Demonstrated interest in product management and technology-focused customer engagement
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
- Foundational understanding of GIS, imagery, and reality mapping technologies, including photogrammetry, lidar, drones, aerial imagery, satellite imagery, and 3D mapping
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively across teams and manage multiple priorities
- Customer-focused mindset and enthusiasm for learning product management practices
- Ability to travel up to 10% for customer engagements, conferences, and team meetings
- Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Geospatial Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, Environmental Science, Aviation, or a related STEM discipline
Recommended Qualifications
- Experience with geospatial technology, especially ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online
- Experience with Esri reality mapping software
- Experience with drone operations, aerial imagery, satellite imagery, lidar
- Internship, research, academic, military, or professional experience involving geospatial technology
- Experience conducting customer interviews, user research, or requirements gathering
- FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate or equivalent international certification
- Experience presenting technical concepts to customers, students, or professional audiences
- Familiarity with Agile software development practices
- Pragmatic Institute certifications

A reasonable estimate of the base salary range is
$70,304—$123,760 USD
